I actually like most of Vice's stuff. They do really gritty in the field documentaries like nobody else. Of course they have their quirks with all the whiny hipster hosts and such but on the whole it's good stuff. Shane Smith is looking like a pretty worn out old drunk though I must say.

But with this guy you can tell very clearly, he doesn't understand why or what he's fighting, he's just regurgitating the propaganda. It's kind of scary because this guy is easily like a lot of guys I remember from high school or university.

I don't know anything about vice news, but this is exactly the right move to get the US government deeper in and further bankrupt it.

Why would they even go to the effort of planning an attack when they can just make threats.

I think Vice is very well connected in these unstable regions and groups on both sides are willing to talk to them because they don't associate them with the typical mainstream media. They've definitely got a huge network of fixers and people who can get them ins with off the grid groups, through different channels than your typical CNN or BBC would use.

They recently did a documentary on ISIS, and got it set up for their people to travel all around the IS occupied areas and see how they've been trying to establish their state. And they've done a bunch of the same type of thing with various other rebel groups in Syria. And with the Peshmerga in Kurdistan, etc. etc. You don't see much of that type of stuff from anybody else.

At this point, it's impossible to distinguish the international bad guys from the domestic bad guys as the latter group is often responsible for starting and supporting the former group.  Not to mention both groups primary existence and power base rests on the initiation of force.

The propaganda machine is a positive feedback mechanism which has no use for truth - ie  X (drugs, "extremism," hate-speech) is bad therefore the state needs to expand at the expense of your freedom.  Furthermore, by opposing your freedoms being stripped, you are supporting X. Different day, same old non sense.
