GrungeGuy Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Hey all, I created a YouTube channel where I have posted myself guiding some short meditations, and I may upload more. Mindfulness is a great practice to add to your self-knowledge toolbox! Practice skills such as concentration, open monitoring, and acceptance... strengthen your ability to be present with whatever is happening for you in the moment! Also, please feel free to share these videos and/or give me feedback so I can continue to grow as a mindfulness facilitator! Sal9000 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Great job! I use mindfulness a lot and I found that it has benefits for me.
Lingum Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I've been interested in learning Mindfulness for some weeks. Do you have a book recommendation for a beginner? It seems there are many good, but similar books on Amazon.
GrungeGuy Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I'm currently reading this book, finding it very easy to understand, and enjoying all of the meditations that are included in it: http://www.amazon.com/Sitting-Together-Essential-Mindfulness-Based-Psychotherapy/dp/1462513980 While it is for therapists and spends some time talking about how they can implement it into their practice, I don't think you need to be a therapist or have expertise in psychological theory in order to understand it.
Michael Marsh Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Mindfulness In Plain English is probably my favorite book on the subject, and it's free here: http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe.html
Sal9000 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I strongly recommend getting headspace. The first sessions are for free and you learn basic mindfulness. You have to pay for the more advanced stuff.
Sioux Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Thanks for sharing. Here's a couple folks may enjoy: Wheel of Awareness Inner Child
