Xdreamist Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Sorry is this is an existing thread already: The Cognitive Dissonance that Ben Affleck is displaying in this video! ...I think you'll struggle to find a more clear example. *His brain * "But... Tolerance... Tolerance to all...!!!!(...But. Tolerance to Intolerant people... They're saying that promotes Intolerance?!?!)...Erm. ERMMMMMMMMM... ...RACISTS!!!!!Whew. Saved!)"
Xbander Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Ben can't separate race from religion apparently. Let's make some easy round numbers here. If there are 1 billion muslims in the world, and (very conservative) only 15% are 'radical extremists' this makes 150,000,000 muslims a threat to the rest of the world and future civilization. The silent 'majority' of muslims have done nothing. Their silence is deafening. It is complacent approval. To the same effect, a majority of Germans were peaceful during WW2. A majority of Japanese were peaceful during WW2. It's not the majority that matters when they don't lift a finger to stop the minority. 1
NotDarkYet Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Why do we expect actors to have anything valuable to say? Ben is arrogant, ignorant (they go together) and has zero interest in pushing the debate forward. And it's amazing how little interest he has in listening to Sam Harris, who clearly has a more thoughtful and nuanced position.
papatree84 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Listen to these guys; arguing about religion. We spend our time trying to spread freedom through Anarchism and they are arguing about peoples right to blow themselves up for a giant spaghetti monster in the sky. WE will never really be on the road to freedom until people leave their stone age religions and state realizing their modern religion, Statism. I thought Ben made a good point at 7:30 saying we have killed way more of them then they have of us. Maybe he is waking up to the corruption? who knows....? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9d-9GM9RGQ Seems like Ben's views haven't changed though.
