For me I recognize the social significance of the bible but there is more than meets the eye. Adam and Eve was a Shamanistic tale dating back at least 30 000 years. Probably more like double that. The tree of knowledge for me represents exponential growth and inter-connection. For exponential growth to occur (which human survival demands) conditions and rules must be adhered to.
