LandJ
Hi. Today one more shooting took place in France. Twelve people dead. Murderers: extremist of Islam, one more time. Citizens of Europe cry for restrictions in immigration in order to stop such sad incidents. They also demand the deportation of immigrants (some the want the deportation only of illegal immigrants). Please, considering those violent and inhuman events, could you tell me the libertarian point of view on immigration? Thanks
Cosmin
The libertarian view on immigration is that you can only deport someone off your own property. Also you can only use violence against them in self defense (that is, if they initiated violence)

shirgall
Let's make this about free speech instead. I like that better. https://reason.com/blog/2015/01/07/the-white-house-on-charlie-hebdo-then-an
TheSchoolofAthens
Three heavily-armed gunmen shooting up a newspaper office in France because they printed cartoons that offended their religion is hardly an immigration issue. Well said. The issues of religion and religious extremism are an issue of anti rationality. Also, the France government is committing suicide by letting violent people and organizations take over neighborhoods by imposing Sharia law, and not doing much of anything to stop it and protect innocent people. (the government showing how incompetent it is to offer security services)

WhiteFire
Here in France, all the headlines are talking about a "terrorist" act, but I fail to see how it is of terrorist nature. Terrorists do not have specific targets, they cause chaos by causing civilian casualties indiscriminately. This was not the case here. Apart from two police officers, all casualties were premeditated targets; which makes this an assassination, not a terrorist attack. Yet, the alleged three gunmen are being called "terrorists" instead of what they really are: assassins. I am confused as to why so many people are skipping over this important detail. shirgall
In France you get a vigilante death sentence for insulting Islam... but in Saudi Arabia you only get 1000 lashes and 10 years in jail. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-30744693 A Saudi Arabian blogger has been publicly flogged after being convicted of cybercrime and insulting Islam, reports say. Raif Badawi, who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and 10 years in jail, was flogged 50 times. The flogging will be carried out weekly, campaigners say. Mr Badawi, the co-founder of a now banned website called the Liberal Saudi Network, was arrested in 2012. ... In addition to his sentence, Mr Badawi was ordered to pay a fine of 1 million riyals ($266,000; £175,000). In 2013 he was cleared of apostasy, which could have carried a death sentence.
