labmath2 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 What would you tell someone who wanted to believe but just cannot think of a good reason to? How did you get started?
Anuojat Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 When i read what you said here made me feel incredible pain and anger since i am indeed one of those people who would not work on waht they LOVE or like because evil people will attack me for it or/and scold and demonize and humiliate me as a child. It hurts, but i think waht you said accidentally hit a nailgun on my own false self so it can no longer hide in the fog. Thank you
Bouncelot Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I can say that I personally haven't met a hard working person at any of my jobs . When people would ask about me and what I was doing they where surprised. I would get a general disbelief or feeling of your not going to accomplish that. Just by the way they would respond. One thing that got me really annoyed is when I would tell people my goals and then they would say wow, thats cool..etc (generic response) And then say you should work at In And Out they get paid 20 dollars an hour.... This to me is a general disbelief that hard work actually has an effect in the world. If you really believed that I was going to accomplish my goals would you really be recommending that ? This could also be a defensive thing for them. I know many times in my life when I was (yes was) reaching for a goal, working hard, etc.... I got a lot of negative reactions. It seem to me at the time they they felt shame because they new they had no excuse to not be the same. So rather then taking a hard look at themselves, they lash out at the messenger. That said, I have fallen into one of those slumps myself, and am working to get out of it. I have very much taken on the "the world is a bad place" mentality. Partially b/c the environment of current career has changed a lot since I started 20 years ago. It went from a place where accomplishment mattered more then anything, to a very socialistic place where there is no accountability and "pull" is all that matters. So now I am looking for a place where my knowledge and skills will be recognized appropriately.
