Zaccheus Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Hello everyone! I just had a bewildering idea occur to me as I was reading "The body never lies" by Alice miller. So as I was reading and I heard some screaming from a woman and the wailings of a baby downstairs. (I live in an upstairs apartment.) and I thought about approaches I could make.. But then I asked myself: "What if I don't have to approach them?" So my idea is that if there was a pamphlet available going into very evocative detail about the very horrors of child abuse, I could anonymously post it on my neighbors door and throughout the plaza. Then perhaps continue to do so on my college campus and other heavily populated areas. Then at the bottom of said pamphlet it could urge the reader to visit freedomainradio or nospankdotnet. I am unfortunately not the best designer of pamplets nor do I have the photoshopping abilities to pursue such a task.. What do you think? A good idea? It could help spread the ideas around! 4
William Wyatt Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 That would be an excellent idea. if you could make such a pamphlet could you send us a link for a printout and I will hand it out whilst busking in my country. But I wouldn't jump to immediate conclusions that she was yelling at the child unless you can distinguish the rage in her voice and an immediate response of fear in the child's wail. You could check the laws about child abuse in your area. As well as the nature of the foster system in that area. If spanking is illegal, and the foster system is of good standard(No patterns of abuse). Maybe you could report her to child services if you get enough evidence that the child is definitely being abused... In danger of being killed or in danger of becoming crazy because of the coldness of the parents. I intervened few times and it went well I also made sure that my phone was audio recording in the background in case of anything goes wrong with the parent. My strategy is to intervene with a smile and concern for the parent but in my heart I intervene for the child and also don't blame the parent because the parent will dump the blame on the child when they are home. They teach it violence. They destroy the absolute certainty of being loved that the baby needs. They cause anxiety: the expectancy of the next attack. They convey a lie: they pretend to be educational, but parents actually use them to vent their anger; when they strike, it's because, as children, they were struck themselves. They provoke anger and a desire for revenge, which remain repressed, only to be expressed much later. They destroy sensitivity and compassion for others and for oneself, and hence limit the capacity to gain insight. By refusing to understand the connections between previously experienced violence and the violence actively repeated today. The ignorance of society is thereby perpetuated. By entering professions that demand violence. By being gullible to politicians who designate scapegoats for the violence that has been stored up and which can finally be vented with impunity: "impure" races, ethnic "cleansing", ostracized social minorities, other religious communities etc. Because of obedience to violence as a child, by readiness to obey any authority which recalls the authority of the parents, as the Germans obeyed Hitler, the Russians Stalin, the Serbs Milosevic. Conversely, some become aware of the repression and universal denial of childhood pain, realizing how violence is transmitted from parents to children, and stop hitting children regardless of age. This can be done (many have succeeded) as soon as one has understood that the causes of the "educational" violence are hidden in the repressed history of the parents. kavih Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Zaccheus, this is an excellent idea and if you come up with a pamphlet, please post it here or PM me since I will also go door-to-door delivering them. However, I would not just put the website freedomainradio.com on the pamphlet, as is, since FDR covers so many topics. I would instead find a specific place on the website dedicated to resources on peaceful parenting and put the link to that content, so that they don't have to find the spanking information themselves (maybe you were already going to do this). I'm working on a project right now that will try to refute the common justifications people come up with regarding spanking ("I was spanked as a kid and I turned out fine," etc, etc.) by supplying counter analogies and the statistics showing the risk factors associated with spanking. I would love to collaborate on something, if you are interested. The Alice Miller content is great, but it needs sources next to each statement, otherwise it looks like just an opinion without any empirical evidence to back the statement up. The last idea I have, since you mentioned you're not a designer of pamphlets, is to use a service that can potentially create (and even mail) the pamphlets. I used to canvas for Ron Paul waaay back in the day (before I came across anarchy) and there was a group of people that created a brochure for him, which was really well done. Unfortunately, it is on a Microsoft publisher program and it is not allowing me to post it on this site which is incredibly frustrating. Is there any thing else that i'd be able to do?

Excellent news! If you meant Microsoft Publisher (with a capital P), then do a google search for "export from microsoft publisher" (without quotes). The first few results I found show ways to export into other formats. Looking forward to seeing it, Zaccheus!
