FDR Alternatives

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded my first podcast from the Mike Cernovich Podcast, because I've been reading his Danger and Play blog a while. His content tailors exclusively to men, but he talks about different subjects than FDR. There's very little philosophy, but a lot of fitness and wellness. All in all, a good guy. He reminds me of Stefan in that he takes a lot of flack for standing by the issues his audience have, and is similarly unapologetic about it.

The Dr. Peter Breggin Hour is a good podcast for getting some insight into all the stuff that is wrong in psychiatry today, and recent developments regarding this.

Similar to FDR, The Joe Rogan Experience is a great podcast for getting introduced to a lot of fascinating subjects. Joe Rogan accomplishes this by getting a lot of talented people on his show. Interestingly, when his guests weasel into social justice terminology and anti-capitalist sentiments, without making any case, he provides pushback on this.

Sandman

someone else sent me to Sandman ... My entire view of the dude changed. "Sandman" and the MGTOW people are insane.... In my humble opinion. On the video I saw, and the comments, people were bragging about how they fucked around with random girls who had kids. Horrible stuff.

Groundwork For The Metaphysics Of MGTOW : Three videos that stand out are on nihilism(2 part) and friendship.

Mind Mastery: Very efficient.

Bernard Chapin: His vitriol for and pillorying of the Left is a joy.

FreedomForceUSA : A rock of sense on economic and business shenanigans.

Libertarian Podcasts:

The usuals - Tom Woods, Lew Rockwell, Peter Schiff

Mises.org has thousands of lectures as well, mostly geared towards Austrian economics and sometimes history.

History Podcast:

Hardcore History with Dan Carlin - Dan is quite possibly the best storyteller I have ever heard, and he uses this talent to narrate various events and time periods in history.  Examples include series' on the 13th century Mongol empire, end of the Roman Republic, and the eastern front of WWII, with shorter commentaries that fit into single podcasts as well (e.g. Atomic Bomb, Spanish-American War).  Each show is incredibly well researched; not only does he use primary sources when possible, he notes the bias of the sources as well.  Individual podcasts can range from less than an hour to as much as 5.5 hours.

Science Podcasts:

Radiolab - NPR show about random science based topics (1 hr or less)

Star talk Radio - Neil deGrasse Tyson's show generally centered around astronomy, but occasionally branches into other topics as well.  Very informative if you can get past his complaining about NASA's budget.  (45 min)

Health and Fitness (for those in the Paleo camp):

Primal Blueprint Podcast with Mark Sisson (30-60 min)

Not Just Paleo with Evan Brand (1-2 hours)

Others:

Coast to Coast AM - Though greatly outnumbered by the shows about ghosts or aliens, their guests that talk about science, health or current events are pretty solid.  (40 min)

Kick Ass Life with David Wood - Generally themed around self-improvement (30 or 60 min)

Rich Dad Radio with Robert Kiyosaki - investment commentary, generally real-estate themed, discussion of economic current events (though not exactly libertarian) (50 min)

There is no philosopher on YT that is as rigorous, as principled or as clear thinking as Molyneux. But here is my list. Some libertarians, some conservatives, some neo-reactionaries, one MGTOW, one smarter than the average liberal, and one dude who is just plain weird. From most libertarian to least libertarian.

Sorry for the late response :( It was surprising for me to read that...I don't read the comments to often but I must say they are always more biased than the Sandamns' what I like about him is that he tries his best not to let his biases create his view of women, he keeps it as objective as he cans, thou I'd be interested to know what you meant by "fuck around with random girls who had kids".

I'd say check out as many ideas as you can. Even the ones you may initially think you will profoundly disagree with. Some of the most intelectually fertile ground imo is within the 'manosphere' and 'reactosphere'. Loosely, they are a hotchpotch of socially conservative, classical religious liberals to radical rightists. I point to a handfull below.

Davis M.J. Aurini

Millennial Woes

ramzpaul

Spetsnaz

As interesting sideshows to listen too as well:

TL;DR

Sargon of Akkad

Although TL;DR is perhaps the more interesting imo.

They argue a lot amongst themselves and I certainly don't agree with many of their conclusions. But I've had my mind changed or lets say more logically redirected on a number of topics they discuss, from gender/masculinity, politics, religion, nature/nurture to race. It's interesting to note that Stefan appears to embrace many of the more logical/scientific concepts and ideas they discuss. Not sure whether he listens to them much himself or whether this has just been a logical progression in his thinking.

Personally I think I may have reached the outer limits of their thinking now. But I have found them way more stimulating than listening to the run of the mill libertarian/ancap podcasts that rarely discuss anything beyond the basic ideas I came to understand almost 10 years ago. Although I still listen to old FDR member Jake Desylas of the The Voluntary Life and the recent schoolsucks podcast series where the hosts and guests discuss their personal ACE scores to be really interesting. Like FDR there does seem to be some progression in thinking amongst these two shows, unlike many others. Again all my opinion of course. :)

Oh god avoid sandman at all costs, I'm a MGTOW and to me it's obvious he's cashed in on this just to make a buck from subs and adverts. He pumps out huge amounts of really awful content, if you're interested in MGTOW from a more intellectual point of view then I'd highly recommend TheThinkingApe (AKA Stardusk) here as well as Barbarossa here.

I listen to a lot of science and educational stuff on youtube which I think is the best starting point for a world view.

Vsauce - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6nSFpj9HTCZ5t-N3Rm3-HA

Veritasium - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHnyfMqiRRG1u-2MsSQLbXA

Numberphile - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoxcjq-8xIDTYp3uz647V5A

MinuteEarth - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeiYXex_fwgYDonaTcSIk6w

Of course Karen Straughan on mens rights, MGTOW and lots and lots of really great evolutionary biology roots of human behaviour - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcmnLu5cGUGeLy744WS-fsg

I also like Julie Borowski, she's a libertarian and does short punchy and funny videos - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzIjg5vIfBGcdyLWu6lhXxw

I'm going to throw Gavin McInnes in here as well, he does a podcast show called Free Speech which is usually really funny, he's very red pill and somewhat of a libertarian, although certainly not as hard line as many, this is more for the comedy value because he absolutely cracks me up - http://www.dailymotion.com/user/Freespeechpodcast/1

the only other podcast I listen to regularly is Tom Woods, and I check foundmyfitness.com once in a while to see if Dr. Patrick has anything that interests me.

I tried listening to Dan Carlin, I just don't care one whiff about the topics he discusses.

I'm bookmarking this thread though, looks like lots of resources linked.
