Hello everyone,

I would like to express my desire to connect with others around my age (18).

I want to get to know people of all ages and from all walks of life but this particular message is for the young men and women who, like me are interested in philosophy, self-growth and would like to build new, enjoyable, trusting relationships.

My intention is to facilitate connections between young people and meet other individuals who are at point in their lives with whom I can relate, in terms of discovering one's passions, a career, a partner and so forth.

Please PM me if you are also interested in connecting and getting to know one another!

All the best to everyone; including you older folks whose company I still very much enjoy and appreciate.    :)

Jake

EDIT:

To those interested, we have grown steadily and significantly over the past while.

Starting this group has been an incredible experience and I hope you are able to share a fraction of that!

I can't wait to chat and meet you all !

Sup, JakeN.

I'm a 19 year old American FDR listener, have been for a little over 1 year. I too wonder the degree to which members of my generation have been graced with the infectuous message of liberty, philosophy, and ancap ideology. Are you by chance in public school? Having already been exposed to the broad message of freedom aspoused by Ron Paul, government corruption and conspiracy by Alex Jones, and anarchocapitalism from Adam Kokesh at the age of 17, I hadn't yet known the joy of Stephan's "philosophizing" community, but these ideas made school even more enjoyable at the time because I stopped taking the folks at the good ol' local indoctrination center so seriously.

That was a short 2 years ago, and so much change has taken place in my life since its headspinning sometimes, not to say that life's necessarily easier in all aspects since learning volumes from the show.

Under 20, reader? Post!

Yo, JakeN.

I too am bellow the 20 year old belt and have been listening to FDR for quite some time. I am 19 years of age and started my journey through FDR about 5 years ago having one summer developed a taste for philosophy, anarchy, and atheism. It was and continues to be a difficult mountain to climb, but the taste of good argumentation is something I can't pass up to this day.

What would you say your experience with philosophy has been like at your age?

Hello everyone !!

Hello Shnugwa, I actually just graduated high school 2 weeks ago (from a semestered school). Are you in college, living independently, working? What are your plans and aspirations?

Hey Jecht, that is awesome to hear, I really appreciate you sharing ! It may be difficult climb, but it seems that the only alternative is falling to your demise (it sort of rhymes and I think is to a large degree true:). In any case, regardless of how hard things may be, and how it may seem like an uphill battle, atleast for me, I can also finally appreciate the tremendous relief and "ecstasy" from all the wonderful things in the world. I don't know if that makes any sense though. Honestly, I have had a wonderful experience with philosophy. It may has lead me to be very isolated from most people, but it has helped me grow tremendously, cultivate fantastic relationships with few, get me into therapy and really do the work; but mostly, it has brought clarity (what it really means and how) to fight the war against child abuse and support a more positive and peaceful world.

What has your experiences been throughout the years? Wow. You discovered FDR at 14? That is awesome. I can imagine it has served you tremendously..?

Ricardo, I am adding you right now !

Let's do it ! How about a facebook group too? Im on it right now and will post a link when I am done : ).  I would love to connect. This post brought a smile to my face for what it is worth.

Susana, heck yeah! I had to do a project for school and a friend of mine help me (see attached -- I don't know if it will work but the Bomb in the Brain, peaceful parenting message).

PeacefulParenting-PhotographyCopy.jpg
Others have read RTR, etc. Every project I have done in school (even if just for my teacher) had some sort of, if anything, unrelated, explicit message of peaceful parenting, voluntarism, free-market, anti-govt, etc.
Anyways, admittedly, a lot of people my age aren't as interested as I am. They may be supportive, but aren't willing to sacrifice toxic relationships, go to therapy, pursue truth no matter the cost whenever possible, and so on. I have certainly got a number of individuals into the free market, at the very least recognizing we should look to the free market, prior to government, recognizing that abuse is bad, becoming atheists, etc.
In any case this is nothing in comparison to what needs to be done and can be done. I like to think I did the best I could given the circumstances, but I am far from satisfied. The work will continue and cultivating a more peaceful world will continue. I truly agree, I think to a very large degree it is really up to our generation. It has got to start somewhere, and the sooner younger people grow up to have and support positive relationships, the sooner we will be one step closer at achieving real freedom. The real prison I don't think is governments, but toxic relationships with one another on a personal, day-to-day level.
I do agree. I think at the end of the day, it is up to everyone regardless of age, but in terms of weight upon society, I do think we hold the most power.

Thanks everyone for sharing.

Feel free to reach out, send me a message or add me on skype. I would certainly love to connect with all loving and motivated people -- regardless of age and gender.

Haha! I was 25 when I went to college again to for psychology.. and took philosophy courses as electives.. my marxist.. I was a gadfly in all those courses, especially at my politics class. I was compared to socrates in a philosophy class with an insult as the intention.. and was told by my professor in politics that my comments and questions are high level thinking when I introduce the simple idea of voluntarism.

Guess what their reaction was when one of them said that human nature is evil thats why we need government and I responded to thats more reason to not have a government?? I've experienced the effects of propaganda at its most purest form. thats why I gave up continuing that school.

Its not easy speaking the truth. People find it so interesting till it makes them uncomfortable.

But I think its in one of the 4 ayn rand videos Stef did that "you don't need to convince everyone, just the people who are ready" something like that. It was nice to know especially because before I thought the tipping points were 50 percent or something but its much much less!

Do you need a camera to use Skype?

I mean I haven't explicitly told people about FDR but I have converted a lot of my former classmates towards libertarianism whether it be left or right. I would mention a Stefan video but I was mainly talking about Ron Paul & the Constitution cause at that time Paul was running. I used to even talk to teachers about libertarianism & I may have convinced my US history teacher along with at least starting a discussion with a few others in classes such as AP Euro & ACT/SAT prep. If I ever pointed them to Stefan it would be about child rearing & psychology along with his videos that dealt with violence things like that cause not to bash Stefan he is great but I think there are others who are better when it comes to Economics & Anarchism.

That's pretty cool; I didn't have the opportunity to graduate early, though I was able to take 4 dual-enrollment classes at the local community college while in my junior / senior years, which has given me a wee-bit of a head start in my college education in engineering. I live with my parents, which ought to change about a year from now as I transfer to a university of my choice to persue a 4-year degre in Computer Engineering. It's actually not my general aspiration to obtain a degree and work in that field until retirement; I am utilizing this education as a rigorous training method to improve my problem-solving and organizational capabilities. I have a deep passion for precious metals, coin collecting, and sound money (and by proxy, perhaps Austrian economics?).This summer I'll be self-employing as an independednt dealer of precious metals in my community; I've had great exposure to many ideas and a year of prior experience selling my wares independently as an 18 y/o noob on craigslist, and that alone was SO rewarding, SO fulfilling, that after a brief break (aka another college semester taking the 4 most challenging courses in my academic career), I'm ready to tackle the market full-swing and start earning consistent income doing what I truly love - now with an engineer's mindset! Hahaha, feels good just writing that and thinking of the possibilities.

I enjoy your enthusiasm for matters such as peaceful parenting, the NAP, and conscious decision making in your personal relationships based upon virtue rather than mere proximity. If I'm not mistaken, you're also a budding entrepreneur as I've read in some of your other posts on this board? I'd be pretty cool to get in touch with you and talk about all that and more.

Hello all,

First post on the message board (yay).

17 from the UK. Having left school to start a business last year, turning what was a hobby into my profession left a gap wide open for the joy I now receive from Philosophy; more specifically FDR. Would enjoy connecting with any other folks my age as well! Thrilled to hear there are others out there!

Regards,

-Alec

Geeze, every young person on this board appears to be ahead of the herd with regards to accepting the responsibility of persuing one's passions and setting goals in life around those innate desires! It's really great to hear that you've turned your hobby into your profession, Alec. It'd totally be a trill for me as well to get in touch with you and any young OR old FDR listeners online!

Thanks, Ricardo, I've added you on Skype! I made sure to reference FDR, my username on the message board, and this thread in particular in the invitation message.

Hey everyone,

I am a 20 year old student Biomedical Sciences (master) from Holland. I got into FDR januari this year and have been trying to talk to people about it since april. So far I have found that only my uncle shares my libertarian ideas and that my parents and two younger brothers are unable to do anything other than spouting propaganda and cultural bullshit when I raise the slightes philosophical topic(even though I am convinced they are able to think critically if they set their minds to it. They seem reluctant/opposed to do so).

I would love to join this skype group. My Skype user name: Dagmar Bouwer (i think, I don't use Skype much until now). I don't speak Deutsch though, just Dutch :P.
