Freedomain Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 http://cdn.freedomainradio.com/FDR_2975_Truth_About_David_Letterman.mp3 David Letterman has been involved in the entertainment industry for over forty years and tends to be a very divisive figure. Some people loved the affable everyman who caustically poked holes in the façade of celebrity, while others found Letterman to be mean-spirited and aggressive. What isn’t up for debate is the sizable role he’s played within American culture over the course of multiple decades. Whether you’re a fan or not, everybody knows the name David Letterman and his sarcastic wit has left an imprint on generations of observers. A deeply private man, Letterman’s relationship with his own celebrity and success is as complicated as it is fascinating. At many points in his career it seemed the only thing Letterman feared more than outright failure were the consequences and pressure of his own achievements. For a man who often took the wind out of pompous, egotistical celebrities – who dared to take themselves too seriously – Letterman was a workaholic, nearly obsessed with achieving perfection in his performances, and left a trail of broken relationships in his wake. Subjective opinions abound, but what is The Truth About David Letterman? Susana Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 How many sources are listed here? I loooove seeing all the sources listed; funny how authoritarians and academics love to list Wikipedia as the know all, end all. Do people even know what a Primary Source is anymore?!?!?
green banana Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Key insights into the minds of Stefan and David Letterman. Brilliant.
Ray H. Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I watched Letterman, without fail, throughout the 90's into the 00's, until I finally admitted to myself that the show just wasn't the same snarky send-up of show bidness that it used to be. I agree with the people who praise him, and I agree with the critics. Without exception they're commenting on different Daves: NBC Dave and CBS Dave. I pine for NBC Dave. For those youngsters or weirdos that didn't catch Late Night with David Letterman, here's a youtube channel a guy has of his taped collection of Late Nights. This was not the same show as the Late Show, by any means. Here's something close to late night perfection from 1987
