KiriKaeshi
I work in the healthcare field, and I see a geater proportion of doctors from middle eastern countires than from any other ethinic group. Feel free to correct me if what Im seeing is an aberration, especially since Im not going to go to the trouble of digging up statistics to support my question, but why are doctors disproportionally middle eastern? Im currently listening to Stef's narration of Lloyd Demause's "The Origins of War in Child Abuse", and while it has led me to make some inferences on the matter, it may only serve as another layer of bias. Any ideas?
Lens
For example in Egypt it is very highly regarded if your son or daughter is a doctor. The Egyptian society gives more respect to a family where one of the members is a doctor or architect/engineer. Poor and uneducated parents can feel grandiose when their son/daughter has a title of a doctor and this is very narcissistic.
green banana
Up until the First World War, the region of the Levante was one of the richest regions on Earth. The elites have kept some of their former sophistication.
AccuTron
Isn't the middle east in general a truly horrendous region and leaving is a great idea? Basically a refugee stream in white coats? (With honest respect to the talent involved.)
