OtherOtie Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Is anyone else having trouble downloading FDR podcasts on the iOS Podcast app? When I download one, it will download, then at the very end it will give me an error and say tap to try again. Tapping does not help. I'm good with all of my other podcasts... Not sure what to do. I can always download them manually but the convenience was nice to have.
JamesP Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I'm not the author/maintainer of the app, but I just tried on my iPad (iOS 8.3 installed) and it worked fine. What device and version of iOS do you have?
Merrifield Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I'm having the same issue using version 7.1.2 (device not capable of upgrade) but I have found that as long as you don't "tap to try again" or "cancel download" you will be able to listen to the downloaded podcast even with the error. Turn off your wi-fi and cellular data and give it a try.

Actually I was talking about the iOS Podcast app, not the FDR Podcast app. But I didn't know the former existed, and now I'm using that instead, so it's all good.

Oh, I see, I misunderstood. I did go to the podcast app, downloaded a FDR podcast from the store, and it seemed to work alright. And did you mean "the latter" in terms of not knowing that the FDR app existed? What was the device/version you were using, and what podcasts were not downloading properly? That would be helpful information for us...
JamesP Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 So, I can confirm that this appears to be an issue for most of the episodes I've tried in the "Freedomain Radio with Stefan Molyneux" iTunes feed. What appears to work is to search for the podcast, and download the episodes from the search screen. Then the podcast is downloaded and you can play it from the My Podcasts screen. At least, that's what works on my iPhone 6. I just had a chat with an AppleCare rep and he was seeing the same thing, and we've opened a case with the iTunes folks.
K.o.t.H. Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I just wanted to add that I have been experiencing this same problem with the iOS podcast app. I am using a iphone6 with the newest update installed. I have the same app on the iPad and it works just fine. On the iPhone, if I erase the volume I am on, and then re-search for it I am able to download one (1) podcast just fine, but no others will download without the error message. edit: my iPhone is now downloading normally
