Alan C. Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Judge says Kleiner Perkins should get $276K from Ellen Pao Judge Harold Kahn issued a tentative ruling today awarding Kleiner Perkins $275,996.63 (~£175,000) in costs after it won a high-profile gender discrimination case against former employee Ellen Pao. . . .In 2012, Pao sued her former employer for gender discrimination, saying that she had been passed up on promotions because of her gender. She also alleged that when she began to complain about her treatment, she was retaliated against and eventually fired. A jury disagreed with Pao in March and ruled in favor of Kleiner Perkins on all counts. This is good. These people are nothing but bloodsuckers. Ellen Pao is married to Buddy Fletcher, a former hedge fund manager whose company went bankrupt. He was investigated and accused of fraud. Apparently, he spent investors' money on personal projects, among other things. He also has a history of filing discimination lawsuits and managed to squeeze $1.26M out of somebody in an arbitration. 2
Alan C. Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Ellen Pao drops lawsuit against Kleiner Perkins, agrees to pay legal fees In a free society, the freedom to associate with whom one wishes doesn't end at the door of your home. Any business should be able to hire/fire anyone for any reason, and these discrimination lawsuits are nothing but legalized shakedowns.
shirgall Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 If she hadn't appealed, she would have saved a lot of money as Kleiner Perkins said they'd waive repayment of legal fees if she stopped. Not stellar decision-making there.
NumberSix Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 This strikes me as someone who's very wealthy (top 1 %) lashing out because she is buthurt and claiming to be fighting for women's rights. 1
