A Theory on War

There is a reason why war is propagated. War is the diversion of intellectual resource and capital, bent to the innovation of death dealing mechanisms. The reason this occurs is to distort and divert the market for the intellectual creativity of the people away from the innovations that could render the government obsolete. The geniuses who otherwise could be potentially working toward the betterment of mankind are now working on ways of maximizing death on the battlefield.

War is not the only distraction. How much brainpower is diverted from useful ends by war simulation games?

What do you mean? Do you mean actual games that simulate war? After all, chess was a "war simulation game" originally, and I don't think playing chess wastes brainpower. The same with modern FPS and RTS games.

I mean we are the entertainment economy imbricated with addictive distractions for the population to spend their lives grazing upon instead of grappling with the real issues that affect their lives.  Professional sports, videogames, pornography, all methods of control and pacification.

So a company shouldn't make a product that's meant to entertain and that is in demand?

why don't we blame the people who refuse to look at real life issues instead of the company that's just filling a market demand?

Dangerous addictive drugs are addictive as a function of two things:  1) the experience they provide, and 2) mental vulnerability built to the potential addict by psychosocial dislocation.  If we had a perfectly functioning society, heroin and pornography would be freely available because no one would want them except for clinical consideration.  The fact that many people do, indicates that the supply needs to be curtailed to protect potential addicts.  The fact that we haven't managed to curtail supply, indicates a lack of political will and a corruption of the political-economic system as a whole.  We do not solve that problem by submitting to the drug pusher lobby.

You certainly are making a lot of assumptions. First you assume that no one would want them except out of curiosity, then you assume that anyone who does use them is an addict.

Did it occur to you that maybe they are addicted but still like it?  Porn, for example, fulfills a biological drive.  So does food.  Just because people use a food you don't like doesn't make them addicts.

There might be people in the future who like heroin.  Beat.  And the destruction of the supply of heroin currently will stop people from becoming addicted to it.
