George Marklin Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I just watched an amazing movie on Netflix called "In Your Eyes." It's the perfect movie for FDR listeners - a philosophical love story about a couple who help each other to beak through the tyranny of illusion, discover their true selves and build a real-time romantic relationship. Stef should do a movie review. http://www.netflix.com/watch/70309685?trackId=14170286 3
John Sambrook Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Thank you, George. I'm going to look that one up. 1

It's interesting that they break through their personal illusions while communicating in a way that in reality would be deemed as immense disillusion. 1

I would not dismiss them as delusional the way their "friends" did. Not in the movie world or in reality. I would ask to see the evidence. They would only be delusional if they didn't have any. In the movie they had direct empirical evidence which they discussed with each other to convince themselves that they were not delusional. Thank you, George. I'm going to look that one up. Let me know how you like it. Thank you for the recommendations, I look forward to watching it. I'd be interested to know how you liked it. 1

For all we know it can be a delusion the woman cooked up while having been in an asylum the entire time, but the point of fiction of course is to suspend belief and assume that these fantastical elements are real for the "reality" of the story it's told in. The empirical evidence would be that the woman could not possibly and completely forge an ideal man with his own life struggles in another city that she may have never been in. I forgot their names -_- I usually remember names from movies, don't know why it's not coming up right now lol.
