BD91 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Link to proposal draft: https://www.acf.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/ecd/draft_hhs_ed_family_engagement.pdf Featuring such goodies as: Value equal partnerships between families and professionals: Combine professional expertise with familial expertise to promote shared learning and responsibility for children’s healthy development, learning and wellness. Encourage two - way communication by valuing family input on all aspects of the child’s life and development, including their culture, traditions, and home language. Because some government employee (and, by association, the rest of the government) whom you will be mandated to meet with three times per year should be considered an "equal partner" to mom & dad. Yes mom & dad's "input will be valued" but ultimately The State will be deciding the direction of your child. It's for the child's better development, WHO COULD OBJECT?!?! Ensure that all family engagement opportunities are culturally and linguistically responsive: Culture is at the foundation of parenting, family dynamics and family - teacher, school, and program partnerships. Ensure that the environment, children’s curricula and learning, and all family engagement opportunities respect, reflect, and embrace families’ cultures and are linguistically accessible to all Oh, you'd like to give your child some sort of libertarian, non-statist viewpoint.....Well.....culture is very important, so it's best that any "family engagement opportunities" reflect culture first and the parents viewpoint is really only an afterthought. IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!!! *muffled sounds of Orwell shouting from the grave* Also, note the sub-script, the lovely redefining of "family" on page 1: The term “family” is used to include all the people who play a role in a child’s life and interact with a child’s early childhood program or school. This may include fathers, mothers, grandparents, foster parents, formal and informal guardians, and siblings, among others Hmmmm, nothing ominous there. So, let's be honest. People are totally incapable of doing things like raising their kids, and building roads. The government should really be tasked to handle it and create a more aligned culture. It's for the benefit of the children, so it's totally the right thing to do. Anybody who opposes measures like this, surely, is a nutjob libertardian who loves guns, hates black people, and wants only to destroy the world. /sarc The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
