Not sure how many millions of gallons and minute the NYC sewage system can produce, or the rate at which the average toilet would refill. Also, the resulting pressure shift and consequent rapid return of pressure could rupture the lines, as happens sometimes due to pressure surges. Why did you ask, though? Was this the beginning of a joke?
