Pelafina
Does anyone have knowledge or opinions on the positive or negative influence Christian values have had on historical outcomes and on the situation society finds itself in?
Mister Mister
that's a pretty broad topic, why don't you share yours?
Pelafina
The reason I bring this up is because lately in Stef's videos, he has been hinting at the fact that even though he doesn't believe in Christianity, he acknowledges that civilizations who believe in Christianity, prosper and exhibit peaceful behavior compared to ones who are athiests or Islamic for example. dsayers
Can you define what a "Christian value" is?
Pelafina
Can you define what a "Christian value" is? Love your neighbor. The golden rule (Matthew 7:12).
Cuffy_Meigs
Although I've read the bible I am not a Christian so how does/should one interpret "love thy neighbour"? Forgive anybody for anything, no matter how evil regardless of any lack of remorse or restitution? Or be open to forgiveness if it is deserved? Or somewhere in between? It seems too ambiguous to call it a value.
dsayers
Love your neighbor. The golden rule (Matthew 7:12). Suppose your neighbor is a rapist. Why should you love that person? You wouldn't believe all the things that were done to me by my Christian parents because the Bible told them to. I've lost everything that's ever meant anything in my life because of the ripples of this damage. That wasn't love at all.
Pelafina
I guess the only major difference between Christians and Muslims is that Muslims will support and vote for a much more coercive government.
shirgall
I guess the only major difference between Christians and Muslims is that Muslims will support and vote for a much more coercive government. Christians haven't done a great job of forestalling coercive government in the west.
