Sima Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I was thinking about Ukrainian girl who was raised by dogs : Basically because there were no people around, she imprinted dogs brain structure, therefore starting to behave as a dog. So conclusion should be that we imprint our caretakers, and personally for me it means that I have all the qualities that mother and my father has. But of course I can chose not to behave as they. But for me its quite sad, because its basically means, that if I want I can be as bad as my parents or teachers etc. Therefore virtue is really a conscious choice. 1
Rlclauer73 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I think that your thesis is reasonable. Although I would want to consider the plasticity of the structure of the brain in later years. If one is imprinted in a particular manner as you say, I would want to explore what capability the human brain has to "re-imprint," a different program, so to speak.
Sima Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 I agree, I learned english and dutch, so brain can learn new things. We learn new stuff every day. Also it explains why people are so attached to parents, because parents are a part of us.
dsayers Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I would want to explore what capability the human brain has to "re-imprint," a different program, so to speak. There's a lot of information out there already. Things like empathy and language skills are developed mostly during the formative years. As is the physiology of the brain in terms of trauma received, cortisol released, amygdala size, etc. The whole purpose of self-knowledge is to 1) understand why you feel/act as you do, 2) control your behaviors based on that knolwedge, 3) leverage the decision you've made to pair off with somebody of like virtue to perpetuate. 1
