Women in tech

This virus has poisoned my workplace too.  It's INSANE.  It's like 1984 double-speak...and nobody questions it.

 

My employer spent valuable stockholder dollars self-examining on this question and found there to be no there there, but nonetheless it would be more harmful to the stock price to not know if there was any there there. Known knowns beat known unknowns in the marketplace of perception.

  Tech is easily the least regulated, most entrepreneurial, free sector of the economy, largely populated by the least "traditional" minded people in the society.  Any woman who is willing and able to contribute to the field will be able to do so.  The burden of proof is on the feminists to show that there are any active barriers.  Otherwise there is no issue.

I felt like I had to comment, this is what I wrote in their comments section:

 

I think the title of this article really highlights the issue. "Women in tech: What women want" - Who cares? Shouldn't the question actually be "The Tech industry and what it wants?". The phrasing alone suggests to me that women feel entitled to privileges of a tech job such as high wage but without actually competing in the free market against other people for those positions. Business are looking for dedicated and hard working employees who add value to their tech business and women hold themselves back when they start making demands of the work place, whether that be complaining about men's attire as with the case of Matt Taylor in shirtgate, or actively targeting people to get them fired over jokes such as with Adria Richards in donglegate.

 

How do these potential female tech employees add value to the business compared to men, or other hard working women? They don't, no one wants to hire someone who's default position is to feel entitled to the job simply because there's less women in tech. Businesses are there to make money, they hire based on merit and those businesses which don't soon go under.

The rational thing to do is ask what value do these businesses want, what skills and what kind of work ethic, and you should be aiming to provide that skill set and work ethic, if you cannot then someone who can will get hired ahead of you. You don't deserve a job simply because you're female and the more you complain about how the workplace isn't suited to you the more make yourself an unattractive prospect for hiring.

FWIW I'm an IT Director in a successful business that produces digital media.

 

 

It's all feelings and perception with women which is why taking a survey of women on their perceptions tells you nothing about the actual reality of the situation. The reality is the same as anywhere where the market is still relatively free, hiring is done based on merit and ability to adapt to the work place, if you can't operate in a certain environment then you're going to lose the job to someone who can.

While it seems to be implied that feminists just want equal opportunity, doesn't it seem like they really want equal outcome? But maybe it's even worse than that. They are happy to leave men in the physically exhausting, dangerous, dirty jobs that can get one killed.

 

Isn't diversity just one mechanism to push society toward equal (group) outcome? It appears we are moving toward a fascist economic system with the illusion of private ownership but heavy state control over everything. In this case the state intercedes to force companies to hire women in tech.
