DaVinci Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I've been seeing a lot more people having meltdowns online recently. Not like crazy incoherent meltdowns, but these "appeals to reason"/"remember the holocaust" type meltdowns. Which are usually followed by "vote for x person" kind of comments. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this something that is going to keep getting worse as the year goes on? 1
iBlagg Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Short answer yes! to both questions. Genuine change looks possible both sides of the Atlantic. You know the establishment is getting scared when you hear the (supposedly) reputable media saying: Trump will cause WW3, leaving the EU will cause WW3. Vote for StatusQuo (not the rock band unfortunately) or the world will end! Naturally this fear mongering filters down and people have meltdowns. Godwins Law everywhere. It's funny before 2008 economic crash nobody said anything. But this time they're certain the sky will fall if we don't do as the media says. Anyone want a preview of how bad it might get in the US keep an eye on the UK referendum just weeks away. Don't forget us Brit's are supposed to be the keep calm and carry on type. 1

I have seen a bit of this, I mostly hear about it from other people who show it to me via their Facebook feeds; I have unfriended or unfollowed most of the unstable acquaintances as of late.
DaVinci Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 An update on this: Since the Republican convention has started I've seen a ton of reposted news stories on my FB feed. It's almost getting to the point where I just want to block it. It also seems like it's coming from people I've talked to recently about non-aggression. Like, there is a push back against what I am saying through these news stories. It actually makes me a little hesitant to even engage people if they are just going to retreat further away from non=aggression.
thebeardslastcall Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Heavy fear mongering = stop thinking and do what I tell you. With Hillary and Trump as the nominees for the party revealing the system as a farce, it makes riling people up pretty easy.
Tyler H Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Heavy fear mongering = stop thinking and do what I tell you. With Hillary and Trump as the nominees for the party revealing the system as a farce, it makes riling people up pretty easy. I think you're right. I think it also serves to reinforce the idea that the only solution to society's problems is the state solution. "The world is ending run to your masters to protect you!"
A4E Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Maybe people are so used to being sweet talked, and abused behind the scenes by politicians, that when a real person with principles and real talk enters, the natural reaction is to whine and cry.
whirlingmerc Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 people get upset when their 'idols' are challenged the Idol could be Trump... or ... it could be Clinton frankly both are significantly flawed
