Eric le Roy Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 There was mention of a study which involved an educational program costing a mere $30 per student, teaching kids basic philosophy and critical thinking skills, and the resulting increase in test scores and grades... something along these lines. Does this ring a bell? I believe he mentioned it in a couple shows somewhere around the middle of May. Can anyone provide a link to this information? Thanks!
raz1911 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I remember him saying that and thought the same thing at the time. Did you check the notes under the podcast? (not YouTube)
Eric le Roy Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 It's going to take some work to sift through the old podcasts and find the reference. I didn't bookmark the specific show. I will post here if and when I find the link.
thecurrentyear Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I would be interested as well if you're able to find it.
Stochastique Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I remember seeing a tweet about this but could not find it (the tweet is too old). A bit of google led me here: https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/public/files/Projects/EEF_Project_Report_PhilosophyForChildren.pdf Also, you can look around here: http://depts.washington.edu/nwcenter/index.html Hope this helps
TonyMacaroni Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Stefan did an interview with Stephen Gorard from p4c (https://p4c.com/), which sounds similar to what you described 1
Snafui Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I think Stef was referring to what education cost until the State took it over.
