n4hpg Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Yesterday, we became a banana republic. For those of you who may not know the term, it is very disparaging and refers to the dictatorships of South America. The Rule of Law and equality under the law are the underpinnings of our Republic. In theory, nobody should be above the law. Director Comey's statements show that the law ( several of them) was clearly broken. The fact that he said that he would not recommend prosecution means that Hillary is above the law. Had Hillary been subject to the law, the republic would have survived. The Democratic party would have survived. I'm sure Joe Biden is available for them. So, the lesson for us, the proletariat, is that the law doesn't matter for the powerful. THEREFORE, I propose the Great Banana Protest. Let us all ship as many bananas as possible to Director Comey at the FBI and to Loretta Lynch at DOJ. Please join with me in making their jobs as FRUITFUL as possible.
dsayers Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 In theory, nobody should be above the law. This only works on those who have not been taught to think rationally. The tell is in the terminology itself. GRAVITY is a law because it is binding. Man cannot create laws, only observe them. What they tell you is a law so that you think it is universal and binding is actually commands backed by threats of violence. Made possible by their perceived legitimacy. In his debate with Mark Skousen, Larken Rose points out that "laws (the Constitution)" was 1) written by people with the capacity for error, 2) can be changed, 3) when you tell somebody that they can be your master, but they cannot do X and they do X anyways, what can you do about it? You just told them they could be your master. The idea that you can both give somebody imaginary power AND limit how they use it is self-detonating. Or as I've always said: In the ruler-ruled relationship, the rules are for the benefit of the rulers and are only meant to be applied to the ruled. Of course there are people above commands backed by threats of violence. Any threat of violence is "I choose to take away your choice." Put another way: "I can do what I won't let you do." THEREFORE, I propose the Great Banana Protest. Let us all ship as many bananas as possible to Director Comey at the FBI and to Loretta Lynch at DOJ. Please join with me in making their jobs as FRUITFUL as possible. To what end? I can think of better reasons to get yourself on a no-fly/terrorist watch list. And a trillion reasons not to provoke your assailant.
DaVinci Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 The major export of the U.S. is Hollywood. Does that make us a Hollywood Republic?
Cuffy_Meigs Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What they tell you is a law so that you think it is universal and binding is actually commands backed by threats of violence. I like that. An elegant and succinct definition of a "law". I shall add that to my anarchist's lexicon!
Tyler H Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 If you haven't seen this I think the point that Comey could have come out said "no charges" and walked off but instead said "guilty, guilty, guilty, no charges" has the stench of sneaky, backhanded, passive aggressive, subliminal message politics all over it. He very well could be setting up pins for someone else to knock down. Pure conjecture of course.
