A short video on the Precautionary Principle (psst: Global Warming)

Why women should sleep with me

"The follow-up to my video "Another terrifying video". I vent my frustration with a pernicious piece of daft rhetoric that has become accepted even in semi-respectable circles like governments, which is the 'precautionary principle' which in short is the idea that we should always assume the worst and act accordingly, even if the feared danger is spectacularly preposterous.

"One point I'd like to add here is that choices are presented as if they are between a risk, and no risk, whereas in fact of course they are between one risk (such as the world's heating up due to carbon emissions) and another, different risk (such as attempts to lower emissions leading to climatic disaster of a different sort)."

I saw the old video that started this many years ago, and commented that we should take action removing Obama from presidency because he could mess up USA badly.

There is a big danger that videos like these are making people just more afraid and more stupid. We can think of it like this, with 4 different scenarios:

1. Its not true that videos like these are making people stupid and afraid, and we should do nothing about it.

(that would be great, but can we risk it??)

2. Its true that videos like these are making people stupid and afraid, but we should do nothing about it.

(clearly a bad decision on this one)

3. Its not true that videos like these are making people stupid and afraid, and we should do something about it.

(would be a bit of a waste, but perhaps neccessary since we are not sure about the effects of these videos yet)

4. Its true that videos like these are making people stupid and afraid, and we should do something about it.

So clearly, and logically, we need to do something about this, like banning videos like that, so that we are guaranteed not to make people more stupid and afraid.

Note: This is foolproof logic and can not be countered or questioned.
