A lot of my friends are into this new fad of wearing a safety pin to virtue-signal that they are "a safe space" for others to... I don't know, weep on their shoulders over Trump winning? Not hear facts they don't like?

Connecting this trend to the safe spaces on university campuses, I always point out that I think it's another way to promote censorship and inhibit diversity of thought.

I am not very popular when I say this! And that's without adding my opinion that the symbol really only applies to people on the left. You can call conservatives any damn thing you want - no safe space for them!

I am interested to know if others are having conversations about this and how that's going.

Adam Baldwin said it best: #DiaperRiots

However, George Carlin also remarked: "Symbols are for the symbol-minded"

Yes, just like the people who were shamed for not wearing ribbons on award shows or other public events, it's about quashing the opposition.

I've seen articles about this. Sometimes what is being pushed is so pathetically damp that I adopt the liberal policy of not listening.

Sometimes you'll be dumber just for trying to find out what the bizarre baubles of this failing religion are. These Trump riots are another one. I've heard about them and caught bits and bobs, but I won't read about them. I've got work to do. Sometimes the child needs to be left to cry.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it came out this was a 4chan hoax.

The whole "free bleeding" movement was a 4chan hoax too. The one where women didn't use tampons/pads while menstruating because "patriarchy".

Nice and not so subtle visual cue to say "Oh look at me - I am being persecuted!"  Seriously, now anyone you see who is not wearing one will be called out as a racist, sexist, etc.

I hate to make this comparison...but isn't this like them giving themselves a "Yellow Star" (sorry for lack of a better analogy here)  but doing it so they themselves can discern right away who are the enemy.  Who they need to attack?  You know... the silent majority that voted for Trump quietly in the privacy of that little booth.

Pretty sad place we are in as country.

The safety pin fad originated from 4chan's /pol/. In the gay community, wearing a safety pin is an advertisement to the guys around you that you want to get pegged in the ass (safely with a condom). They spread it on Twitter to troll the naive virtue signalers. And the libtards did not fail to entertain.

Lol I'd love to see evidence of this. I see ads constantly for special "period panties."
