I will start off with saying I am still fairly new to the peaceful parenting idea, but it is extremely appealing to me.  As I understand it, peaceful parenting requires that one parent (preferably the mom) stays at home to raise children.

My question is would it be possible to raise children peacefully with both parents working today?  Looking back I did benefit from my mom staying home to raise her family.  I do want to have children but in current economy I find it difficult to picture where myself and my spouse would have the financial means to do so.  However I no longer could bring myself to put my future child in daycare. What could be a possible solution?

Child care is expensive. It really cuts into any additional income you hope to pull in from your wife going back to work. Then factor in transportation, clothing for work, meals out on the go, etc...financially it doesn't make sense. Set some money aside for her to stay home at least the first year, cut back on expenses, live as cheaply as you can, and you can find a way for her to stay home longer term. But really, if you can't "afford" a kid; don't have a kid.

My plan is to work from home so that I can be closer to my hopeful future children in the future. Obviously not everyone can do that so it might be helpful to find work with minimum commute time. That could mean an extra 30 minutes - 1 hour with the family.

First things first, welcome to the boards!  I'm thrilled to hear we have an addition to the peaceful parenting community, and that you have already realized that peaceful parenting and daycare are incompatible.  Given the ratio of adults to children at a typical daycare, prolonged periods of individual attention between the adults each child are pretty much impossible, so regardless of how peaceful the adults are, your child would for the most part be raised by the other children, who I would be willing to bet were not peacefully parented.

I would agree that working from home or at a job with flexible hours would be your best bet.  I personally just made a huge career shift a few months ago for that very reason, though I am still at least a few years from having kids of my own. Do you have a rough estimate as to the timeframe for when you expect to have children?  What is your current job/career path?  How long have you been working at your current job?  What do you feel are your skill sets?
