That innocent and beautiful part of human experience is now verboten. What is especially amusing is that Luke saw her, heard her plea for help, and instantly wanted to help her in the movie. "Who is she? So we will be reduced to saying, "I like everyone!--except haters!" On that clip, let's see the faults: The main character is White, even dressed in white, a man, young, good-looking, sensible hair-cut, clear-complexioned, good-natured, not bitter or difficult, no chips on his shoulder, not a criminal or a bully, obedient to his guardians, straight, culturally appropriating vaguely Oriental shirts, and his robots call him "master" as if they were slaves. He admires a young, beautiful White woman in distress who needs the help of a man (probably a White man, and probably older than she). Oh and he probably doesn't listen to Rap music, or know what transsexualism is. EclecticIdealist Posted December 29, 2016 Share Posted December 29, 2016 I think it's completely shameful that the first thing that Steve Martin would notice about Carrie Fisher wasn't "her talent, her feminism, and her commentary on mental health" rather than her appealing "physicality". I also think it's completely shameful that the first thing he thinks when he sees a thanksgiving dinner is not the nobility of the magnificent animal that was so thoughtlessly raised in a pen and slaughtered for its flesh, or the noble farmers who have lost their jobs to the large corporate farms growing the food on the table, nor even the shame he should feel for his imminent gluttony, but rather, his first thoughts are likely how good the food smells and is likely to taste. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
