Starting over from FDR0001 - Anyone else interested to discuss the FDR Classics?

I'm not sure where this post would best fit, so hopefully General Messages is suitable.....

I have started listening over to FDR from episode #1 this winter.  I am currently at about 150. One reason is I prefer the subject matter from the older volumes, and secondly I started listening to the show by bouncing around from different volumes and sets of episodes, so I wanted to go through in proper order this time around.  I'm wondering who else has done the same thing or similar.

I'm also wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a weekly Skype group or something of the sorts where we can have weekly discussions about past episodes.  Perhaps we could agree ahead of time to 3-5 episodes to cover and chat about them.  Of course, the conversation would probably still be good for people who couldn't listen to all the respective episodes in a given week, but it would be ideal if all members could.

I would be willing to do a lot of the preparations and organization if enough people are excited and interested in joining.

Love it! I started almost four years ago and I'm just about done! All the best stuff is back there. Definitely interested in the skype chat.

A lot, lol. Listen on 1.5x.

Well, in terms of starting out, the podcasts were recorded during his commute, so they are typically only about a half-hour.  The group chats were a little longer in the beginning, but even they were just a fraction of the modern call-in show length.  This is why I think 3-5 episodes to cover per week would be reasonable.

I'm not a social media guru by any means, so if anyone has suggestions for a better platform or other options than Skype, I would welcome the assistance.

Also, I would be thinking the most likely day to do the skype chat would either be like a Tuesday evening or a Sunday to accommodate my own schedule.  Other suggestions are welcome.

Also, I'll just leave this for about a week and see how many more bites we get for interested parties, and then plan to proceed from there.

Well I know there is a FDR discords group which you might be able to do it in. There are options to create different channels in the group. I also believe there are already 20+ members in the group who may be interested in this, not sure tho.

okay so im going to try to do some simple math, 3000 podcasts which on average are 30mins each would be 1500 hours total. or if you 2x speed then 750 hours total. I personally always watch youtube vids at 2x speed. Saves so much time but if the mic quality is bad it will be harder to do. I also listen to Audible books at 3x because most audible narrators use professional studios and are very pronounced so it's still understandable at faster speeds.

Anyways, if you 2x speed and listen 1 hour a day, you can get it done in about 2 years. 2 hours a day in about 1 year.  4 hours a day in about 6 months and if you make it your full-time job at 8 hours a day, then 3 months

I did fail math in HS tho so I am probably off. Its a pretty big commitment which im not sure I can take atm. I still would love to join the group and maybe catch a few episodes that I may be interested in if that is fine? either way, I wish you guys well on this!

2 years.

It took me about 1 year to listen to them all back when there were only 2000+. I recommend the experience. I don't think Stefan remembers it himself but he did predict the 2008 financial crisis just by using facts and basic logic. It's a case study in how guided you can be in life just by having clear principles and sticking by them.

Circling back to see if we're still gonna get this going.  Also, does anyone remember the zombie suppository podcast? I figure maybe someone who has recently started from the beginning may have come across it, I'm pretty sure it was fairly early on.

Yeah, I listened by searching hashtags that were interesting and listening to all the material from that subject, then on to the next. I'd be interested depending on when it is.

Edit: you know what, I've been thinking about it for a little bit and I think 5 episodes may be too much to have a meaningful discussion about. Also, a lot of the early ones are kind of self evident. It may just be my own limitations, but I'm not sure how much of a conversation can be had about DROs and the like. However, there are specific ones that could probably spark hours and hours of conversation like episode 7, much of the dream analysis, many of the early conversations especially with Greg, etc.
