RichardY Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 A few thoughts on "The Road to War with North Korea." 1:55 "I think it's fair to say that we should take whatever they say with a fairly significant grain of salt."- Cry Wolf Afghanistan, Iraq, 3rd time Lucky. 2:12 "now I have referred to the leader of North Korea as crazy"- I disagree, he is insane(unhealthy), not crazy; sanctioning several family members and entire communities. 2:40 "North Korea was founded as a communist country which means two things fundamentally one of course is its materialistic its atheistic there's no dangling of rewards in the afterlife to drive people to truly self-destructive behavior it is the afterlife ideologies that are the truly dangerous ones because there's less immediate survival rational calculation and more unpredictable there's not a lot of North Korea suicide bombers of course so the fact that it's a communist country means that it's more prone to rational calculation although of course not moral" - Would Christianity or Islam be considered an Ideology, what would? How can someone found communism, it's accepted or it's not? The Suicide rate is pretty high in Japan and Korea. 3:40 Hermit Kingdom. - "Technically North Korea is still at war" 4:00 Threats of Nuclear attack - Is Switzerland included? or a S.American country? 4:50 Espionage, and accumulated secrets. - Plagiarism is dangerous and effective given high enough IQ. Beware of wisdom you did not earn. 6:53 Thousand of Nukes pointed at N.Korea - One good one as the saying goes is all you need. 12:00 "the USSR certainly has been gone for decades and what the 26 years now so anyway it's just one of these things they they just do program start they don't stop there never rationally evaluated because there's no free market that punishes people for inefficiency in government programs" - Why efficiency and not effectiveness. Sledgehammer or Scalpel to kill. Which one has the greater finesse. Besides if they are unaware of what happend to the last lot, how are they to judge(ie value). Logan's Run. 12:50 Manufacturing future conflicts, Nuclear reactor to Nukes. High Intelligence. - Why would the Korean leadership(wolves) see nothing but contempt in this and justified in doing any harm they wished to Decadent Western countries. 14:00 "it's quite a long time and North Korea has not war launched any war to retake South Korea they'd like to of course" - Still at War. 14:20 "it's not like there hasn't been opportunities for North Korea to try to retake South Korea" - Obsolescent of Hardware: Battleships(high firepower) < Carrier (Flexibility) < 1 Anti-ship Missile < Bioweapons < Blackhole implosion device (Total Annihilation) 14:40 Internal military coups in South Korea. What if Kim 33 years old, holds onto power long enough to develop bio-weapons say a 30 year plan. 15:30 Nuclear weapons. Yes they are defensive against other state powers yes. So the power goes to internal control, does not disappear. 17:15 Here's a nuclear reactor and conventional fuel. - Think of the children.......... 19:15 I mean this incompetence this megalomania this idea that other countries other cultures around the world are these chess pieces that you can just move around they have no will at their own days I mean this is a psychotic view of the world in my opinion now as far as what should happen now I mean the idea that you're just going to do some airstrike that's going to take out the new capability of North Korea when they've had at least a decade to scatter and plan for all of this I mean I don't think that's like you don't like I'm no Military expert I mean I can give some general principles and philosophy I'm good at but it seems a ground invasion would be monstrous - I think it is essential, even if Japan gets nuked again, maybe Tokyo, I don't think they are best friends either. They didn't learn the first time around. It would be congruent with Empires always fall though. 20:22 "I don't know what should happen immediately, philosophy is really around the prevention of problems at the beginning" - John von Neumann developer of H-Bomb and Universal Constructor architecture, argued for the use of the H-bomb against China.(Wikipedia) 21:30 "Everyone is Hitler." Will other democracies continue to pay bribes to N.Korea(Maybe for various blackmarket services.) and ignore any agreements or advice Trump made at the end of his term? As the Germans ignored Bismarcks Best of 5 Advice(Great Powers be 3 vs 2). 25:15 "Interventions and the Asymmetry of warfare."- Scorched Earth. Why wouldn't you burn down an entire area like in monoculture. The Nukes are not the primary threat. 27:00 "Two Important lessons. 1) Government control destroys the economy." (it's not irrational, short term time preference) it's going to fall on its own. I think I can repeat myself it is going to fail. If you want to be patient..." - Why would you bother trying to control Socrates, just learn his stuff have him killed or better have the general people do it. I think von Mises or Rand made the distinction between DeFacto and DeJure Control. 28:50 "Just read your von Mises." I have read "Human Action" and some of "The Theory of money and credit" plus articles on Mises.org. I know in Human Action Mises did not refer to Japan as a free market economy and more than that he mentioned some of the cultural developments that had led to a freemarket had not been archived. He even said Socialism could be achieved but it would be stagnant and initially reliant on setting prices to a capitalist economy. 29:00 "And the second is Empires collapse." - would the Emperor of Japan be an exception? 30:50 "until we master the fundamental sin of vanity of pride of megalomania of narcissism, the idea that other people are these inanimate objects to be moved around serve our own political or grandiose whims this cycle of history will never stop and that's what philosophy can offer the world the cessation of this grim and dismal cycle of history." - What if the population is just kept separate "Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Speak no Evil". The sin of Pride is wrong in my opinion plus Aristotle & Rands. I would say Hubris instead, falling in love with ones own rationality."Cry Havoc and let slip the Dogs of War." I think to be truly narcissistic you have to be unaware that you are doing it. Why go full Nuclear arsenal when you can go Biological? Everything else can be rubbish. -"We need one gun, but a good one" Stalin. referring to multi-cannoned tank development. ("Battlefield" on Discovery). The Title is a reference to a Star Trek episode. I think it would be in the Top5 - Nuclear weapons as defense, necessity of attack, lack of information, Romulus(North Korea) Remus(south Korea). Vulcans(Japanese). Romulans(Korean).
