Braddicus
I've recently been toying with the idea of establishing Libertarian/Voluntaryist communities or congregating in certain areas of our respective countries, so that we who have the same or similar principles and values can live and prosper amongst each other, rather than wither and become isolated living in the irrational, venomous cesspools of a broken society today. I believe that in this day age of growing uncertainty, perhaps it is best that we start banding together or at least congregating in similar areas if possible. I currently live in Canberra, Australia, and am looking at moving to an area with a higher concentration of likeminded Libertarians/Voluntaryists/Ancaps. I'm not sure if there have been previous posts that have broached this subject, but I would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions. - Are there already communities or designated areas agreed upon? If not, suggestions? - What are the most Libertarian-friendly states/territories/counties/regions/provinces of Australia/USA/Canada/UK/NZ? - What are your thoughts on the feasibility of such an idea working? M.2
Well, you are in luck. Australia has a very unique attitude towards people setting up their sovereign countries. Here is a link to all the micronations that the Australian government has or had recognised. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Micronations_in_Australia Here are other micronations all over the world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_micronations I think the country of Minerva or that of New Utopia is what you are looking for. If you are asking for my suggestion, you can move to the most sparsely populated country on the planet, Mongolia, set up a tent in the middle of nowhere, with nobody around you in a 500km radius, dig a hole in the ground to access fresh water, dig another hole to get any minerals spanning from gold to uranium, eat pungy grass for sustenance (seriously it's really good, tastes like mild onions) and nobody in the world will ever even know or care whether or not you exist. Best part is that you can pee wherever you want. On a serious note, I don't think a voluntaryst society is possible without strict borders, by which I mean you can't successfully set up a community in an existing country. As soon as your community emerges as a shining beacon of freedom, you will get millions of collectivist parasites headed your way, and you can't stop them with the free market. Just look at Texas and the Californian refugees, Hong Kong and all the Chinese "tourists", Transylvania and all the Wallachians... etc.

That is an interesting idea. Best to have a solid plan to put that into place.
Garrett
Since we're sort of out of land that isn't under tyranny to some degree, some people have gone into the concept of sea-steading. These are a pretty serious group of people with pretty specific building plans now. https://www.seasteading.org/

Even if you are able to build a community of libertarians, you are still within the borders of a country. That means that the state can still knock on your door and demand taxes to pay for this socialist hellhole and the state can still take your property. You would have an hard time living under the radar, as specially if members of your society decided to do trade outside of the community. To answer your other question, I would pick the country with the lowest population. That way, your community could create a libertarian lobby and force the government to lower taxes. So, I would pick NZ
