It might have gone under the radar how a growing number of news outlets (Just saw on the page of The Guardian the other day... got surprised.) started asking for donations £1, £5. Could it be that their main sources of income are drying up at an incremental rate thanks to more competition being... khm (free market)... being present?

After a bit of research it turns out, they've been trying get more money from readers since Jun, 2016. Hah! Interesting.

I mean, it's good news.

Surely they'll adopt a new stance and take a '180°' in order to stay in the market of free ideas. Surely they'll be more honest and say, produce more value, catering for their audience. It's possible.
