I love philosophy and want to do it full time, every day, on the streets like Socrates. How can I earn money? I have nowhere near the skill to be able to produce podcasts like Stef of that quality. So I'm looking for some ideas of how I could go about it? I'm 25 and willing to invest at least 10 years of my life into it to see if I can start to produce something original. In the meantime, I'll need a way to support myself. One idea I had was to give public speeches in exchange for donations. Here is one I made recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-rb6EeyYngSo it would go like this: Someone sends me a speech they have written on liberty or some philosophical topic. I learn it, go out onto the street and turn it into a video. Then, I send it to them and put it up on YouTube. If they like it they can donate, or I could charge for extra services like putting images or music to it? If anyone has a speech or a topic based on liberty, I'd love to give it a try for them so let me know. Or if anyone has any other ideas of how to turn this into a reality, please, please tell me. []

Good video. I always had clothes of a "lesser" brand as a kid and I remember the tension I used to feel around those with their "top-of-the-line" gear. Why not turn virtue into a brand? You can wear clothes that brandish your dedication to self-improvement. You just need to write something on it that displays your values. Write your beliefs on all of your clothes.

I'd ask for a definition of "government." Get them to break it down to its essentials, what they believe it to be, then you stand a better chance at understanding what is motivating them to say phrases like that.

I've decided to try and become a full time activist, I cannot fucking stand being a tax slave anymore, working by sweat and then having my own productivity used to take out loans against me. So I'm going all in, it's either freedom or a life fighting for it.

Nothing happens in a vacuum, how did you end-up in that situation? If you are born into a cage surrounded by torturers all bets are off. I'd actually argue that refusing the food stamps would be unvirtuous because you are allow the immoral to succeed, by killing yourself.

Fuck I'm sorry dude, what a shit situation. Look, we are all born into this world and we have our legs broken - snapped; it's inevitable that the trail we leave behind will be crooked, charged with painful memories. That does not stop us from trying to rebuild them or even build up our arms so we can walk on them! We all fuck up, I landed here off my head on drugs (you can read my first posts,) totally lost in life, getting into street fights and violent encounters with the police. I stuck with conversation here and did some serious heavy lifting and now I walk proudly, have great relationships and so much love in my life. My advice is to leave the shame or guilt at the door, and if it is really strong self-empathise as much as possible all the while investing with all your might in the positive aspects of you character. Build your virtue and you will rebuild your life.
