Psychologists and therapists offer IQ tests. I'm not sure how much they costs but have heard ranges from $60 - $120. I asked my therapist about them and she advised against it. The question you should be asking is what does getting your IQ achieve? My logic is this: you already have an idea as to where your IQ is (looking at averages and such) why do you need confirmation? What happens if you score below or above what you expected?

My online dating experience has been very similar. Funnily enough the people are so bad it's made me value my relationship with myself much more. I'd prefer to to by myself than talk to anyone on those sites. Sorry ladies but being "Sassy" and "Sarcastic" isn't an attractive quality, to anyone. Nobody wants a lifetime of that bullshit. I genuinely don't care about peoples' hobbies. That's how children make friends, not adults. Do you remember being a kid and saying, "Ugh! Adults. All they want to do is talk". There's nothing wrong with my hair stylist wanting to make small talk; but when it comes to establishing long lasting romantic relationships, talking about hobbies doesn't cut it. This is a good way to filter out the people who want intimacy and relationships with depth. It's also a way to know who's wise and knows how to have adult conversations. Everyone has pointed it out so far: She basically asked you the same question twice. Either she doesn't have the intelligence to understand what she's asking or doesn't care to pay attention. If somebody asks you about hobbies, at the bare minimum, they need to follow that up with the three magic words: Tell Me More. In my opinion, you dodged a bullet. Be happy she didn't respond and go back to look for any red flags you might've missed.

Rule 1! (Or really the only rule): Understand what each part does. Do your research. Here's a website I used when building my computers: http://www.tomshardware.com/articles/?tag=components&articleType=review They have great articles for noobs as well as great hardware reviews. There's one about diminshing returns when purchasing high end parts. I built a gaming rig, something to play my games at max settings. Since you're using your rig for design and programming you'll want something similar. Here's my analysis on the important bits. Case: Bigger is better (if you're a heavy computer user). Yes, technology get smaller over time. However, computers generate lots of heat and need something to keep it cool (ventilation, water cooling). Whatever you choose to keep it cool you'll need space, lots of it. Hard Drive: Buy an SSD. Done. SSDs are better than HDDs in every way possbile (no joke). Even if it only has 200 GB. They're expensive now, but the data transfer is so simple you'll be able to upgrade without having to reinstall everything. CPU: Don't go too cheap. This is the brain of your computer and will need to last you a long time. Motherboard: This part took me the longest to pick. They'll try to throw a bunch of useless peripherals at you. Do lots of research. You'll want your rig as future proof as possible and motherboards determine what you can/cannot put in your computer. I ended up having to make a second computer ground up because my case wasn't big enough and my motherboard didn't support newer graphics cards. Memory: This is what lets your computer do the same tasks without working as much; Helping prolong computer life as well as keeping things fast. Personally I have 8GB (4GB x 2) and I would like to get more. 16 GB is a good place to start. Power Supply: If you want a gaming rig understand the best graphics cards are big and use lots of power. If you want to be able to play all your games on ultra (totally worth it BTW) you'll need a power supply of at least 600 watts. Seeing that your case is big you may want to get a power supply that's modular as well. Graphic Cards: This bad boy will take the load off your computer when playing games. You don't need more than one card (SLI/Crossfire) as long as the one you have is good. I'm not sure how much to suggest paying for this. This is probably the part you'll be upgrading the most; not because it dies on you rather the technology improves enough every 2 years or so to justify upgrading. Essentially purchase your hardware with the knowledge technology is constantly improving and you'll have to upgrade certain parts cyclically.

I've had an idea of doing a philosophical D&D show. Have a roleplaying game that examines various philosophical topics. Something that covers family, negotiation, depression, etc. The roleplaying game would be a way to keep it light and entertaining. I love finding new ways to make philosophy accessible and I really believe this would be perfect! Sign me up! I've had two D&D podcasts in the past, but nothing philosophically driven. My specialty is entertainment having done stand up and improv.

The whole video isn't even a story. They talked about the shooter playing video games and a guy he played video games with. Oh, and he may have supported gamergate. And? What does this have to do with anything? Please don't tell me they're trying to link video games with violence. I don't think they're trying to fit a narrative. That's to say the media is competent. Rather, they're pulling stuff out of thin air to "make" a story. Click bait for the news.

It's why I don't do stand up anymore. I can see others saying the same, so with fewer comedians clubs won't last as long. Most comedians these days are very "progressive".

Funny you say that, a lack of comedy clubs is a huge deterrent as well. Depending on where you live there's usually one or two clubs to pick from. In Cincinnati we had one club, and the one in Bloomington Indiana was getting all the big comedians. I would have to drive 2 hours to and back to see shows with my favorite performers.

I love the art of comedy, but I feel most people aren't interested in going to comedy clubs. An inkling tells me this is because most clubs need to change; may it be food, prices, structure, whatever. I'd appreciate you to take time out of your day to help me understand this issue more deeply. If you have any suggestions feel free to post them!

I love this! I've been saying the same thing. When the announcement was made, and everyone was jumping for joy, I found myself very irritated. Why? Because there's no acknowledgement from the media this wouldn't have been an issue if not for the government. There's also a lack of questioning, why now? Do you think it's bizarre the government has decided to sell marriage licenses to same-sex couples now that marriage in the US is at an all time low?

I own an Amazon Echo. It's always on and gathers data about everything I do. Why am I comfortable with this? Because I like Amazon and want them to be efficient with selling me goods. Like any other relationship, if I give more information to people I trust it will make the relationship more beneficial. I hope Google is getting smarter. I hope Google knows when and where I take a dump. If it means making my life easier by blocking out websites I'll never use (or would like to use) so be it.

In an age of immediate gratification, we have forgotten the core principles passed down to us from those brave enough to take the risks. History has done all the work for us, yet we continue to make the same mistakes. Denial of biological drives, doubting our instincts, avoidance of responsibility, lack of eye-to-eye human contact, etc. Some of us want more. Some of us look at the people we're surrounded by and think, "How can you settle for this?". Some of us want to raise the standards given to us, and then go beyond what others have thought possible. Calling women "unicorns" pedestalizes them. Someone on a pedestal lowers your own value (A quick way to attract people with low self esteem). When I hear man say they're looking for their "unicorn" I hear a man who's happiness is dependent on women. Men are getting this idea of finding the "one", when there is no such thing. Instead, men need to learn what they like/dislike, tolerate/avoid. Stop using the word "unicorn". Become the prize. Become a man worthy of love and love will find you.
