What is it about telling parents to quality-consult with their children, about telling parents to be honest with their children about their knowledge, or lack thereof, of morality, instead of obfuscating and guilting, etc, that is so typical to the Parenting Industrial Complex? Comparing Stefan's parenting advice to the kind that hawks playtime tips, seems like a gross and insulting exaggeration.

Here, in the most western of American states -- not California, not Alaska, but the other one -- Hawaii -- one cannot simply pack their car and move far, far away, unless the destination be atop a steaming volcano or under the billowing waves, otherwise I would have hightailed it off this rock long ago. What's required is a plane ticket, and one large leap of faith over 2000 miles of ocean to that continental megalith we islanders call the Mainland. And it scares me a bit. I haven't worked out the details yet, but I am set on moving. I have enough money saved. I have the agreement of my parents to provide some initial financial support. I am enthusiastic and confident. But I would prefer not doing it alone. For this my parents cannot be relied, whose hearts are as closed to me as their wallets are open. So I am putting myself out here on the FDR board, with a hand extended to fellow members who may be looking to fill a rental spot or looking for a move companion. I am not set on any particular state, though I have a slight preference for the western and/or coastal ones. Let me know if you're interested and we can get better acquainted.
