  1. Neutral corners. Go read "The Bonobo and the Atheist" and resume, please. http://www.amazon.com/Bonobo-Atheist-Search-Humanism-Primates-ebook/dp/B007Q6XKEY/
  2. No matter what, the time you spend doing something is not spent doing something else. That being said, it only takes minimal effort to attain a healthy level of activity. 3 hours a week at a gym is excessive for most people, but extra walking and bodyweight exercises are not.
  3. Indeed, my experience was that even in the 80s that both sides were playing a game and it was incredibly refreshing and rare to find people that *weren't* playing games until I was much older. I married at 35.
  4. I'm still getting moved into Snoqualmie, but I'm getting closer to being social.
  5. Stef's Greek accent in FDR3000 was pretty fake.
  6. The way some people spin it, yes, it's tantamount to metabolic syndrome.
  7. How many feminists does it take to change a light bulb? . . . That's not funny! In all seriousness, this perceived offensiveness tactic is a ploy to avoid true empathic connections.

  9. Just remember that calling philosophers close-minded by claiming to be open-minded in contrast is an insult and impedes discourse. I am open-minded because all it takes to change my mind is evidence. True arguments, true debates, true negotiations require that both parties be willing to change if an appropriate decision has been reached that requires it.
  10. That's kinda the point, everyone needs to decide the costs and benefits out for themselves.
  11. Is it wrong to try to curry favor with the Mob?
  12. Are you deliberately ignoring the numerous examples where complete data, methodology, and other evidence are shared that I pointed out?
  13. I've seen something with a simple telescope that sure looks like the ISS. https://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/events/stsight.html What I saw was not as good as these pix, but it was recognizable: This 2009 image is from a manually-tracked 10" telescope with no stepper motor. Serious telescope-fu in action there.
  14. Skepticism is the default stance for ALL positive claims. It is *active* skepticism--outright, overt resistance to positive claims of a supernatural variety--that you are railing against, not the natural tendency to doubt. Atheism is the label applied to skepticism of a category called "religious claims." No one believes all religions. Heck, I don't think religionists believe in more than one simultaneously, although many change which one they believe in as they move along. Atheists believe in one less religion than religionists. If you want to attract people, it would help to stop the "wall of text" posts. They actually fog your message and only appeal to those looking for confirmation bias.
  15. Meh. Transparency is harsh light for pharmacology and humanocentric climate change, but it's been great for gravity, evolution, subatomic physics, and billions of other sciences. Bottom line is that basic research takes three or so decades to produce actionable science. Product development around subatomic science has been brisk and profitable. I'm not seeing any profit in doubting that it works.

  17. This is, again, an exercise in only combatting claims that are actually made. If not, I could immediately insist on identifying as bacon and demanding that those that do not salivate at my appearance as oppressors. (No, I do not have that much of a tan. I'm raw bacon.) No one cares to not identify me as bacon unless I insist on identifying as bacon. The only reason transgenderists and transracialists get attention and criticism is that they identify in such a way. No one is obligated to endorse or deny (or even connect) their theories until those subscribers push their theory on others.
  18. Buddhists not involved in politics? https://books.google.com/books?id=e5LXzQD-GyEC&pg=PA16&lpg=PA16&dq=buddhism+interference+politics&source=bl&ots=eLHczTNs2U&sig=aDYJxMiayoh_ZQmLYsa_yc8R12M&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CC4Q6AEwA2oVChMIqOPflNaVxgIVDZqICh3m0QDI#v=onepage&q=buddhism%20interference%20politics&f=false
  19. I want to see him have each Department justify its budgets based on past performance.
  20. When science is attacked for not-easily-reproduced results because of cost, the destructive nature of the experiment, or the sheer difficulty of getting a useful result, they publish the heck out of the methodology and results... and then the other makes disingenuous claim that I'm calling it equivalent to direct experience and so discounts it. What purpose is there in talking further?
  21. It's kinda odd being what was considered average back when I was born. I'm 5'7 and 165 pounds...
  22. Funerals are for the survivors to get closure. It's cathartic.
  23. Well, someone used my info to steal money from the IRS by filing a false return... and they expect me to fix it.
