Hi Boris, these are interesting questions, but empirically it seems the answer is not very relevant. I would imagine that less than 1% of Earth's current population has ever homesteaded any land, but they can make a living nonetheless. Especially today, when intellectual work is a lot more valuable than in the past. I mean how difficult is it for a couple to rent (or buy) an apartment, save some money and give their child an education? The child does not need any land, just some skills that he can sell in the market.

I'm not an atheist, and for reasons I never hear argued
Cosmin replied to David M's topic in Atheism and Religion
David, are you aware that computers are the result of scientists "yammering" about electrons and protons? If you don't believe that electrons follow rules, how come you use a computer? I mean the result of pressing the keys on your keyboard should be totally unpredictable, right? -

What if 10,000 people want 2,000 phones?
Cosmin replied to Alan C.'s topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
2000 phones for 10000 people is a problem only if you have a narrow and truncated view of telecomunications. -
Austrian economics acknowledges that people act in their interest (e.g. some people prefer to steal). Morality means a set of rules which are universal - everybody should obey them at all times. Stealing is wrong not because it does not bring an advantage to the thief, but because it cannot be universal (the thief steals something, but then he does not want somebody else to steal it from him). Another way of putting it would be to say that economics studies the way people act, and morality studies the way people should act.

Nope, you yourself admitted that value of actions and morality of actions are two different things. So you can't now put them in the same category by saying you can't accept both Austrian economics and morality. It's like saying you can't be both tall and fat.

Why does China keep letting the U.S borrow money?
Cosmin replied to aFireInside's topic in Current Events
Peter Schiff has talked about this as well. If the Chinese currency increased in value relative to the dollar, the Chinese people would be able to afford buying what they now export. It would increase their standard of living, not decrease it. It does not make sense to just export (send goods abroad an receive fiat money). The purpose is to use that money to import goods that you do not produce.
