  1. No this is wrong because the inference is directly supported by the statistics, it's not mathematically possible for women to find 80% of men below average looking because biology is statistically distributed about a mean and that's used in science all the time to work out approximations of accuracy in experiments and studies.

It's necessarily the case that perception of what is "average" is actually false and skewed towards the high end, and that fits perfectly with the rest of the data we have about females which is that they're hypergamous and use their sexual market value to date up, this is backed by endless other studies and information such as the fact that women initiate most of the divorces and that reasons listed by women for divorce are things like simply being dissatisfied not because of any kind of pressure to leave such as cheating, domestic violence, etc.

How is it not possible for women to rate 80% of men as below average looking?

Is that different than 80% of people rating themselves as better than average drivers?

  2. I've heard Stefan echo a similar point and I even brought it up last night. However, I think it may be a weaker argument. How could one be sure this is the case? Is this an evidence based claim?

Stefan has referenced a scientific study where an attractive woman approaches college guys and asks for sex and then they repeat it with an attractive guy approaching college ladies.

When offered sex with a stranger some outrageous amount like 75% of guys said yes while basically zero women said yes to sex with the strange guy.

  3.

Atheism was and still is prominent, so she would sometimes get hard questions from some students because she let everyone talk, and her go to answer was "Yes good question. And I can not give you all the answers, its up to each to decide for themselves." Great advice that most certainly helped me later.

This advice sounds like cultural relativist BS. So if I decide that God exists and his prophet married a child before riding to heaven on a winged horse, that's all good because she doesn't have all the answers? What if i decide I can draw square circles?

  4. You have a hilarious interpretation of what is "creepy". I've seen nothing to demonstrate that Donald Trump is an individual with a high IQ. It's not an insult and certainly isn't blind to reality.

And Steven Crowder is internet cancer, his humor and attempts at political insight make me ill.

That being said, I never thought I'd see Piers Morgan say something reasonable.

His college entrance exam scores put his IQ in the genius range.

  5. Police source provided evidence of government cover up.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/04/06/cologne-police-reveal-cover-new-years-eve-rape-attacks-ordered-government/

"A leaked cache of confidential emails and notes passed between the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) state government and local police has revealed the extent to which the force were placed under pressure to cover up the migrant sex attacks at New Year’s Eve."

  6. And then it was you, Jer, who implied that the two are the same.

You have something very wrong in your understanding of human interaction if you think the two are even remotely comparable.

I said they are both violations of the NAP. I realize it's more unpleasant to be jailed indefinitely than it is to be accosted by some girl in the hall.

I maintain that this is assault. It may be unlawful detention also, but I am not interested that discussion.

  7. I think his point is that cops detain people LEGALLY every day for imagined crimes, with no outcry. Maybe not for a hairstyle, but for violating the terms of imaginary covenants like speed limits, drug laws, or failing to obey them quickly enough when they stop you arbitrarily.

Yeah, It's kind of pedantic and off topic.

Yes, I object to violations of the NAP. This video is different because it not only shows a violation of the NAP but also violation of the laws of the US and that makes it actionable.

  8. Let us not forget that almost every time the police "lawfully detains" someone, it's a complete violation of that person's rights, as they have not been proven guilty of a crime, and often all the police has is a suspicion along with some mildly incriminating evidence. I don't see you guys making an outcry out of that. And for argument's sake, compare what the police do on a daily basis, to what this woman did, and the damage that each represents. All this "victim" had to do was vigorously shake his hand off and make it clear that he wanted no part in the woman's advances, and that was the end of the interaction.

What evidence do you have that leads you to think she is making flirtatious advances?

And yes, there absolutely would be an outcry if a cop had detained somebody because of his hairstyle. It would be a complete violation of his rights JUST LIKE IT IS WHEN THIS CIVILIAN DOES IT...

    Unlawfully detained.

and she used unwelcome physical force to do so. You know, assault.

  9. Also in the USA people are convicted of rape because their sex partner had a drink and they didn't. Just because the justice system calls it assault doesn't mean it is. And I didn't say I approve nor disapprove of her behavior, I was simply stating that it is in no way comparable to actual assault.

What do you call it when someone grabs you and won't let you go on your way even after you say "let me go"?

  10. Have you heard of Street Epistemology? Anthony Magnabosco has a youtube channel where he posts videos of Socratic dialogues with strangers. He is usually discussing religion, but his method (from A Manual for Creating Atheists) is useful for evaluating all sorts of beliefs and I'd love to see it adapted to discussions of statism.

    here's an example:

  11. If your child was about to fight in the hunger games, would you want to go for a hike and then watch a recording of it, to see how he/she is doing after the fact, or would you be more interested in watching it live?

If you actually cared about the fate of the people you're watching, then you want to watch it live, and it has nothing to do with irrational beliefs about supernatural wishing powers.

This comparison of yours is very weak, sad. /trumpspeak

Why should I care about the fate of a football team? Did they change the rules so that the losers die now? I'd watch that...

  12. Does he have any analyses of Obama speeches?

Great question since Obama always uses linguistic tricks in his speeches.

I briefly searched and there's one where he has a sycophantic clip of an Obama speech set to classical music with the narrator saying it's the dream of humanity or some nonsense.

  13. If Mizzou handled it the other way, there would still be a reduced enrollment and retention. The fact that a racially charged protest took place, and is in the media spot light would bring enough negativity, such that no matter how it was handled (meaning how the media portrayed it) it would still lead to reduced enrollments.

    Any thoughts?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the other way".

If they had a quality faculty who actually focused on teaching valuable skills to the students maybe there never would have been protests.

  14. Of course a single mum looks lousy if she kicked out a basically good man.

Could you explain what you mean with this please?

Either she kicked out (chased away, cheated on, whatever) a good man or she procreated with a low quality man who left in spite of her virtue.

  15. I wonder why we should care? If he/she is happier now than before, then go ahead.

There's no violation of NAP, the owner of the property rights is the transgender itself and he/she probably paid the medical costs him/her/itself; the films were successful enough.

    What's the problem?

You wonder why we should care how children are treated? I didn't make a moral judgement of the self mutilation. I suspect it's a symptom of a bad childhood. I think it's worth discussing because the leftist MSM will probably be congratulatory and treat this as a good thing rather than the desperate actions of troubled individuals.

  16. I am 14, god has always been a good shoulder to lean on when no one else was there. And if he was never there, then it all seems meaningless. If I find a for sure truth, then I will accept it, but I am on a borderline at the moment.

I vividly remember feeling like I was leaning on God when I was a teen. I prayed every day for God to bring me things that I could have probably gotten if I had relied on myself instead.

I ended up sabotaging myself because I didn't think I needed to work hard to get the things I wanted since if I just had enough faith God would move mountains for me. Have you ever waited for God to give you something you prayed for when you could have been working toward it yourself?

How would you know if the prayers you say have been answered were actually answered by God as opposed to coincidence or your own effort? George Carlin says he prays to Joe Pesci
