BECOME A PART OF OUR MASTERMIND! Two entrepreneurs and FDR listeners are SEEKING highly motivated and intelligent individuals to COLLABORATE with on matters of business and personal development. Interested? Keep reading! What is a MasterMind Group? I prefer to answer the question by painting a story: Imagine a man who’s accumulated 5 years of entrepreneurial experience in the field of marketing personal services online and in print with an IQ of 123. He reads roughly 2 books a month and listens to perhaps 15 hours of podcasts in a month pertaining to his line of work, as he is already successful but always strives to improve. He wants to drive more traffic to a personal website marketing his services, but finds the task to be somewhat daunting as he’s not particularly tech-savvy. Enters another woman who’s spent the past 9 months monetizing her blog about personal finance after being inspired by taking an online course on that practice with an IQ of 125. She’s absorbed in her work, and listens to 30 hours of audio and video content pertaining to her field on a monthly basis. She’s successfully optimized her site to the #2 spot on Google and #1 on Yahoo for search terms in her niche. She decides she’s going to use her success story to launch an SEO consulting practice herself, but has little business marketing experience and nobody in her life to seek advice from. Lastly arrives a 20 year business veteran and CEO of a multi-million dollar company selling fertilizer to industrial farmers. He’s got an IQ of 134 and a personal library of literature which proved instrumental to his success sitting on ivory-mahogany shelves which represents but a fraction of his knowledge in business. He’s discovered Freedomain radio and is questioning the root causes for his desires for money in therapy now. He’s thinking of selling the company and shifting his energy into founding a charitable non-profit, and wants to craft the website himself. Each of them share the same core values, and each of them are driven, intelligent, and capable of achieving their individual goals with great time, energy, and difficulty. However, imagine a being with a mind so powerful, that it were the equivalent to an entrepreneurial MasterMind - an expert in every aspect of starting a business, marketing it successfully, hiring the right employees, optimizing its web presence to drive maximum traffic and sales, scaling it, and sustaining it for years; a mind with almost three decades of equivalent experience, with an equivalent IQ of 160 (about that of Einstein) with a genuine desire to help others succeed and ever-increasing knowledge bank. How much easier would it be to solve their individual problems if they could consult such a mind for free every week? How much would one typically have to pay to seek counsel from such a mind? What benefits and victories could come to each of his or her practices with such a powerful ally at their side? ✦✦✦ My friends, a MasterMind is a collaborative infusing of various degrees of intellect and experience, focused on solving problems, overcoming obstacles, and providing feedback on the business practices and goals of individual participants. The diverse group operates in harmony with one another’s chief aims in life, and holds good will towards their friends’ success. Good will is maintained by individual participants adherence to the same core values combined with an enjoyable personality. The sharing of core values in the FDR community is widespread. We value intellectual integrity, emotional honesty, personal freedom, the non-aggression principal, and consistency. By sharing our struggles with trustworthy individuals of high character and intellect, and gaining their insights into our situation, we will ensure our success in our business endeavors. The MasterMind group offers the support needed to thrive, the external feedback needed to overcome unperceived obstacles, the motivation needed to persist in the face of adversity, and the quality friendships needed to live happily. ✦✦✦ I will now go over the practical means by which a MasterMind group operates: Relevant terms and definitions: "Hot Seat" [Recommended Duration of 5-15 minutes]: Individuals who're in the hot seat are expected to either outline the definite plans of action which they wish to receive feedback on, or relay the problems or new ideas regarding their current business which are most pressing currently for them. In order to accelerate the rate of helpful feedback to the hot seat member, he or she should COME PREPARED with SPECIFIC QUESTIONS pertaining to his or he problems. An example of a "hot seat" scenario is as follows: Reflects upon previous week's goal progression and business successes (2 mins) Outlines goals and plans of action in order to achieve them (5 minutes) Relays targeted problems, knowledge deficits, or obstacles in the way and asks specific questions to the Mastermind (7 minutes) "Brainstorming" [Recommended Duration of at least 20-40 minutes]: Brainstorming is not simply asking a particular individual for his or her thoughts. It is a collaborative effort in which the collective genius of the entire group is put to the task of thinking up solutions for the problems and obstacles presented by the member in the hot seat. Examples of helpful activities during the brainstorming session include: Relaying relevant past experience in conquering a similar problem Asking questions surrounding the portions of the business plan which appear faulty Pointing out of any inconsistencies, pitfalls or over-simplifications in planning, and ideas for improved execution Recommendation of free or inexpensive services conducive to business growth Expressing encouragement and positivity or moral support Overview: Sessions are conducted via video call on Skype. The member in the Hot Seat is pre-selected from the prior meeting. The Hot Seat session proceeds unabridged, unless members seek clarification or further explanation. Then, group Brainstorming proceeds, whereby crucial feedback and support is given. The entire process can take from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, or longer if the group is really “flowing” well and doesn’t wish to stop. A weekly schedule will be made according to individual participants’ daily availability, and sessions will last as long as all participants agree to. ✦✦✦ I am partnering with another young entrepreneur, AlecS, in order to facilitate the growth of our MasterMind group from 2 to 5 members. (3 MEMBERS NEEDED). We’re seeking an outside perspective on our own business ventures from intelligent, wise, experienced thinkers. In return, we intend to provide value to peers of our same degree of entrepreneurial experience by offering peer support, encouragement, critique, and questioning. For those of greater experience then ourselves, we will graciously accept your feedback as passionate, curious, and motivated young pupils who’ll act upon knowledge provided. In addition, you will gain insight into your own business from an outside perspective regarding its flaws and unseen opportunities from the younger generations! No matter what your experience level, the MasterMind will serve you well as a tight-knit community of motivated, intelligent individuals who share the same core values. We will hold you accountable to your goals because we want you to succeed just as much as ourselves! ✦✦✦ What sort of qualities are we looking for in people to join? We want to meet people who’re happy! People who’re honest and operate with integrity, not the sort who drive fake traffic to steal ad revenue or pass off snake oil products to sucker the ignorant. People who’re optimistic about their position and view on life, not people who’ll complain and drag others down. People who’re motivated to work to succeed and do good in the world, not aiming for a quick fix to their problems by off-loading responsibility unto others. People who’re passionate about their work or the prospects of starting anew, not those drudging through life to make ends meet. People who’re curious to learn more about themselves and others with their differing views on the world. Read the underlined words again! If you’re reminded of yourself when reading the paragraph above, then please reach out to either myself or Alec. We’ll be posting example replies for applications to enter the group below. You can be creative and dynamic in your responses, but we ask that you incorporate answers to the following questions: Who are you? What are your core values or principals which you abide by? What motivates you in life? What is your entrepreneurial or business experience? What specific skillsets have you obtained in your particular industry? How has FDR impacted your thoughts on entrepreneurship? ✦✦✦ I’m genuinely curious to hear your stories, because I know many of you are fantastically interesting people with marvelous stories to share. I have made so many friends from the heart of this online community, and in many ways you, the reader, are a source of inspiration for me. Please, do not hesitate to reach out via private message; if you prefer you can introduce yourself to us via Skype on a video call. I do hope however, that some will feel encouraged to reflect upon their own strong suits and exhibit the courage to post here as well. I hope to hear from you very soon. May your businesses and happiness prosper alike, Nick

Hey, I apologize for assuming that because your account was old and you had no posts that you merely lurked around the boards. Nonetheless, I'm glad you've started to engage in forum activity. It's been pretty fun for me to read and interact with the thoughts of other intelligent folks here. In your response, I do not believe that you were in any way dishonest with me. What I'm trying to communicate to you and others who see this post is this: There's already 20+ interesting, honest, empathetic, and engaging members in our community. I am personally very close friends with 5 or so of these members, and good friends with at least 10. It is our goal to invite those in the FDR community who're both within our age group and most motivated to forge new connected relationships with others. We are at a point now where we don't want to just invite anyone with a forum account into the group, we have collectively sought to establish standards by which new potential group members should meet. Now, that may sound intimidating to some, but I promise there's nothing to be intimidated by if you're a person of good character and intentions! My questions are designed to gauge your degree of interest, as we want to connect with people who're motivated to do the same. They're also posed in a way that gives you the chance to display your capacity for emotional openness and honesty with your life situation. I'd really like to get to know you and other potential members before I introduce you to my friends. We have had issues with dysfunctional people joining the group several times over the past 8 months, all of whom have either left or been kicked out. I want to prevent exposure of myself and friends to potentially toxic people as much as possible. How can I gauge these things I've highlighted from a post such as: The truth is, I can't. That's why I've decided to raise these questions, and gauge people's interests and capacity for connection from them. Folks who really want in write elaborate replies, some even abandoning the number structure and sending me a letter of their story and eagerness to participate. Those people get in right away. I want those people in my life, and so do the others. I certainly hope that this clarifies my exact intentions and elaborates a little on what I'm really hoping to find from reaching out to you all on the forums here. If there's any way I can further clarify, or you have comments or concerns, please don't hesitate to address me on this forum or directly via private message. Take it easy, folks. I hope to meet more of you soon!- 28 replies

I can personally vouch from several conversations with Dimitris that he is a very intelligent, empathetic, and interesting individual capable of well-connected conversation. He's been participating in group Skype conversations with the Young Philosophers group for ~1 week, and several members other than myself have commented that he's a very engaging and fun character. His motivations for leaving Greece are well-timed and well-informed; I wish you the best of luck Dimitris! Talk to you soon, bud.

shnugwa replied to shnugwa's topic in General Messages
While I appreciate you offering a rare glimpse into your interesting hacking practices and answering my questions in general, I'm sorry to say that the Young Philosophers group is mainly for younger members of the FDR community of ages 18-26 to participate in. I've been lenient and allowed a couple of folks who're 27 and 28 to participate since they provided me with a lot of history and seemed highly motivated to contribute to the conversation, but I honestly feel I should cut the age limit off there. Also, in general folks, I don't want one sentence replies from people. It's my error for not making that clear sooner. I want to be able to gauge if you're a genuine, curious, and honest person who's motivated to start new relationships. Answering like: Does NOT give me anything to really go off of nor does it make me feel comfortable in deciding to introduce you to 20+ of my friends and colleagues. If you do not feel comfortable with writing a more detailed response on this thread, please PM me and feel free to be as open and honest as you're comfortable with. I don't share your responses with anyone else in the group or on the forums. I see you've lurked on the boards for over a year and this is your first post! I congratulate you on reaching out for the first time, but again, I would sincerely appreciate it if you were either to re-post or message me with a more open and honest response which gave me an idea of who you are as a person before I introduce you to my friends.- 28 replies

Whew, 7 responses within 72 hours! I'm quite pleased to have already spoken with Dimitris and briefly. [uPDATE 3/26/16] I'm even more pleased to say that Dimitris and I are friends now, and the group has helped him write a resume to help him find work outside of Greece! Another ringing success for the group An Important Update: In light of the recent spike in interest, it would seem that many FDR supporters and fans of the show are emerging from the hidden woodworks of the community, creating new accounts OR dusting off old ones with very few posts specifically to get in touch with me. I can not accurately gauge one's interest in facilitating connected relationships, nor one's capacity to add value to the conversation, nor whether or not someone is genuine in their intentions without understanding some background about the person. I hold good will towards all interested parties but due to a few negative experiences with new group members in the past, I feel it is important to have a system of sorts in place so that only those who're motivated, honest, empathetic, and rational may participate in the conversation. When you message me, please answer the following questions. I understand for some this can be intimidating.. I'm very sorry for that - I simply know no better way to filter out toxic people and do not wish to repeat the mistakes of the past wherein we let in anyone who wished to join. Regardless, your answers will be met with appreciation, curiosity, and understanding. Here are the questions: If you'd like a perfect example of how NOT to answer these, please look 2 posts down! Thank you for your time and consideration; I’ll look forward to speaking with you folks soon. Take care until then, Nick- 28 replies

I'm reading Atlas Shrugged. This passage sent shivers down my spine. The first time I read it, I literally saw the word "terror" instead of "horror". Intolerance equates to racism, and horror originates from terrorism and the cultural demolishing of the west by radical Muslims advocating a literal intepretation of the Islamic religious text. All the meanwhile, free speec is censored for the protection of feelings in the name of tolerance, so that any rational cry for help is strangled before it even leaves the mind, lest you be called racist... It's odd, this book was written long ago, but this passage stuck out to me as though she were writing for today! Thoughts?

VolT, I sincerely appreciate you bringing this to my attention and to the general awareness of the members of this forum. I have heard of this site before, but never thought I would purchase any courses due to the hefty pricetags associated with some of the most promising courses available within my interests. However, tonight I purchased $1167 worth of extremely promising courseware in the fields of programming, business development, marketing, and neurology.... for $60. I'd like to tip you for bringing this to my attention; I am overjoyed. Please private message me, and I'll be glad to tip you in bitcoin or if you live in the US, Silver. Thanks again, Shnugwa

ClearConscience, This video appears to have touched your sensitive strings and provoked a great deal of outrage within you. It is my recommendation that you call into the show and debate these points with Molyneux himself. You'll undoubtedly be bumped to the front of the line, and have an opportunity to explain to a massive audience your criticisms of the video, whereas on this board, your ideas will be exposed to a select few totaling no more than 1,000 views - most of which will skim through your *ahem* "arguments", and promptly dismiss the points due to their appearance as a disorganized and incoherent ramble. A large portion of your assertions are not backed by reason or evidence, but rather more baseless assertions. This is unfortunate, because if you are correct in the assertion, and intelligent and capable of providing the reasoning behind them, you do your position a disservice as others will invariably realize there's no argument to analyze and dismiss the assertions as emotional drivel. I will provide you with one such example; your post is quite lengthy so I'll simply cherrypick my favorite to save time. Guess what, champ? Not an argument. That whole paragraph, was simply not an argument at all. That, good sir, was far beyond even circular reasoning. It was beyond laughable and an utterly contemptable excuse for an intellectual criticism of a man's words. "Your argument is in invalid. It is soooo invalid. It is very invalid. It's not even valid. Nothing is more invalid than your argument. There is no comprehensible way than an argument could've possibly been less valid than yours. NOTHING IN EXISTENCE IS LESS VALID THAN YOUR ARGUMENT! THAT IS HOW INVALID IT IS!" I wish you well, and hope you regain composure soon.

The Introduction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=murvOaHB66A The Result: What the Hell IS This? There are two common trends within each video: a near-unintelligible speed of speech delivery, and a distinct absence in the presence of arguments. It's being called Policy Debate. And it’ll be impacting the American political landscape for years to come. From the Ivy League schools to rural high school classrooms, youths from around America of every color, class, creed, and religion are participating in a rational and coordinated debate feverishly incoherent mindslaughter of baseless assertions, indecipherable gibberish, and frantic hyperventilation in order to further the discussion with their original contributions towards important societal matters such as the impending fiscal cliff, prospects of nuclear war, and sociocultural / gender issues. I encourage you reader, to watch the first video through and through to become acquainted with the most benign and orthodox manifestation of debate strategy in the this strange paradigm of speed debating format. Professional organizations invoke the participation of thousands of teens in this hysterical conversation of political scope every year, with recognizable and reputable institutions such as Harvard University and the U.S. Military Academy sending their best and brightest to participate. You can watch another debate tactic in Oklahoma State University’s heated match against Harvard: RAPPING. If your time is short, I’ll do you a petty favor and transcribe one of the gentleman’s arguments: This debate was orchestrated by CEDA (Cross Examination Debate Association). I have ascertained through YouTube video evidence, that stretching AT LEAST as far back as 2004, national championship winners without exception has utilized “speed debate” tactics. It’s colloquially being referred to as “spreading”, or speed-reading. Contestants conduct research on their position for the topic assigned by the moderators with a healthy allotment of time ahead of the debate to prepare. Once called to the stand, a sentimental pre-speech of thank-you’s and praise to the organizers is given by the contender to warm the audience (and judges’) hearts. The debater then proceeds to place a stack of papers or laptop upon a table, physically braces his or herself for competition, often hunching low, as if instinctively, and the debate begins. An unrelenting and unintelligible spewing of related and unrelated facts, fiction, ad-hominem, logical fallacy, baseless assertions, unsubstantiated claims, references to undefined and ambiguous terms, fowl language, intermittent gasps for breath, and repetitive “UH-UH-UH” onomatopoeia all fired at a steady rapid pace ensue, with the occasional intervention of rap ethos now and then. At the opening team’s closure, a brief period of questioning follows from the opposition. Questioning includes: calling the other side racist, and asking them to defend it, making up things the other side didn’t say, and asking them to refute that, using the words “White Privilege”, and also rapping. The Problem: These are not debates. Debates are characterized by the use of logical arguments, based upon both reason and evidence to support their foundations. Contenders have their minds put to the test based upon how they can think on their feet, and at best are permitted notecards or single sheets from which they may record beforehand the general points which they wish to cover. Speed reading an infinite number of little factoids which lend credence to a particular position is not debating. The implications of this phenomenon propagating are unmeasurable: There is literally a massive and ever-growing cabal of politically-interested individuals around my age, +/- 5 years who genuinely believe that this practice is what ought to dictate government and social policy. They erroneously believe that the most effective strategy to win a debate is to spew ideology, weave a web of facts, and rap. I know not what to make of this. I will be conducting research into the organization responsible for this; I suspect a dark agenda is afoot behind the existence of “Policy Speed-Debating”, the chief aim of which is to eradicate rational discourse and supplant it with…. Idiocracy.
-
I was astonished by this, unable to compose myself from laughter that the hysterical gasping, incessant cursing, and anti-white racist non-arguments were criteria for a "debate" victory. Then, I saw this more recent video from the same organization, CEDA: (SEE BELOW) It's another championship video. Skip to 1:16:15 The young man is literally employing the same awful tactics, as though he impressed his mind upon the task of studying the former victor so as to emulate her success. It's completely unfollowable gibberish, frantic gasping and pausing, erratic and irrational direction of thought, the ravings of a delusional racist madman! Has this become commonplace?! Am I to believe that these individuals are "winning the debate" on foreign policy, social issues, and matters concerning society? What are their arguments! I can't fathom this, and I find it terrifying. I would love to contest such debaters with reason and evidence supporting my contrary position, but obviously orthodox debate strategies (read: sane) aren't what takes the trophy in CEDA. Is this organization ran by a shadowy organization with an agenda to destroy public discourse, growing armies of fanatic anti-white debaters?! I'm at a loss for words. Skip to 1:16:15

http://www.infowars.com/google-secretly-spying-on-computer-users-via-microphones/ http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jun/23/google-eavesdropping-tool-installed-computers-without-permission Private communications have been recorded in mass without consent and sent to third parties due to a feature of Google Chrome web browser called "Ok, Google". We all share concern over governmental agencies such as the NSA spying on individuals' communications (texts, phone calls, e-mails, Facebook exchanges, and more), but to what degree do we need to protect ourselves from monolithic corporations like Google, Apple, or Facebook? To what degree are these companys' stored communications shared with government agencies? I'm not fond of anyone monitoring my speech, whether it be government, corporation, or individual citizen. In the United States, there's a provision in the Constitution known as the "4th Amendment", which was spurred by the nation's founding generation having acute weariness of and hostile disdain towards a tyrannical government's desire to invade privacy via their confiscation of private documents or quartering of households. Now, in the information age, invasions of privacy of a far greater degree, perhaps perpetual recordings filed of all conversations within earshot of recording devices, are to be sent to unknown third parties for likely purposes of profit or surveillance by governments through collusive practices. Samsung Televisions are now equipped with microphones and cameras that record your conversation and facial reactions during TV viewing, and all collected data is sent to 3rd parties. If you've ever read George Orwell's 1984, then this should ring a bell, and if you possess any discernment whatsoever, raise great concern in you. I know it's fun to debate about transgenderism, and other race/gender/ethnicity/class/age/sex/hooplah sociocultural phenomena that arise in our deteriorating western society; hell, there are two forum categories with threads surrounding transgenderism alone each with hundreds of replies and thousands of views. If I'm to be honest, this irritates me. Clearly these matters touch individual lives and warrant discussion, yet out of hundreds of posts and tens of thousands of words exchanged, and much mental/emotional energy expended, little if any consensus has been achieved in these threads. I'd suppose that such issues serve the elites of this world quite well - divide and conquer at its finest, causing in-fighting and completely distracting all those engaged in debate from serious threats to individual liberty. And I propose that there are serious-as-fuck geopolitical and economic developments, such as the stability of the Dollar being thrown into question, looming potential for a war between the United States and Russia, or the threat posed to U.S. Sovereignty by legislation such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and corporate / government spying warrant just as serious a discussion. If not American, substitute the subversion of your nation's government by global financial institutions and the advancement of tyranny near you. So, that being said, what're your thoughts?

Colby, I commend you for reaching out and making yourself present in this online community. My sympathies go to you in your predicament, as I can only imagine the difficulty one such as yourself faces in trying to ascend into a meaningful and productive adulthood whilst surrounded by a poverty-stricken community riddled with drugs and irrationality. You're going at it alone for now, and that adds a dimension of helplessness; the hopeful thought lingers: "Surely somebody in this town can disseminate truth from falsehood, fiction from reality, intellect from mindless gab.." The echoes of your plea reach further into space with each passing day as time after time the mob replies, "ur wrong. stfu wierdo". You've done it in a tangible way by creating this thread. Were you aware that this thread existed? https://board.freedomainradio.com/topic/43977-any-younger-people/ There's a Skype group of open, honest, intelligent, well-meaning friends who've met from FDR, all of whom fall into the age range of 17-24. The closest members are more than a stone's throw away from you physically - there're two residing in Virginia. However, it could be beneficial to make connections with young people who share your values online as you work towards your goal of making physical friendships. It'd be a pleasure to speak with you man, even if you don't want to join the group that formed as a result of that past beacon made by user "JakeN". Send me a PM if you're interested! -
This is extremely interesting to me; Alex Jones' InfoWarsHealth platform would be the first source that enightened me to the benefits of Iodine supplementation. They sell liquid forms of nascent Iodine as you've described, though for a far higher price tag than $8, allegedly because of the brand's quality and pureness. http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/crux/2013/07/23/how-adding-iodine-to-salt-boosted-americans-iq/#.VXkKakYjiSo This is just one article that outlines some of the observed increases in IQ from iodinization of salt supplies.

Hello, folks! Chess is an intellectual's game, a battle of tactical prowess and positional leverage symbolizing the eternal struggle posed between the forces of good and evil, light and dark, BLACK AND WHITE! I'm curious to know, are there others in this community who enjoy the challenge of chess? I believe it to be truly unrivaled in its depth and complexity; no two games are ever truly the same (except novel fool's mates performed on unsuspecting victims). It'd be great to hear of your experiences in chess, how you came to appreciate the game, and the degree to which you think that skill in deeply logic-based games like chess may or may not translate into other facets of life, like business, education, etc. As for me, I've always been fond of the game, having been the strongest chess player at my school during Junior / Senior year of high school. Many a lunch were spent in the computer classroom sitting at an empty table, battling away the opposing forces of my fellow classmates. Since leaving highschool and not having any friends who're into chess, I decided to make a chess.com account a couple of years ago. Boy, was I surprised to find out that I had the strength of but an average chess player! My average rating was ~1000, right in the middle of the bell curve. So given that information, I strove to become better at chess! I've been pretty passive achieving this goal for the first year and a half, but this summer I aim to improve my play to a rating of 1400 across the board of all speeds of play. I've already made it in one category! Anyhow, add me on chess.com if you've got an account and like to play! http://www.chess.com/members/view/Shnugwa

That's pretty cool; I didn't have the opportunity to graduate early, though I was able to take 4 dual-enrollment classes at the local community college while in my junior / senior years, which has given me a wee-bit of a head start in my college education in engineering. I live with my parents, which ought to change about a year from now as I transfer to a university of my choice to persue a 4-year degre in Computer Engineering. It's actually not my general aspiration to obtain a degree and work in that field until retirement; I am utilizing this education as a rigorous training method to improve my problem-solving and organizational capabilities. I have a deep passion for precious metals, coin collecting, and sound money (and by proxy, perhaps Austrian economics?).This summer I'll be self-employing as an independednt dealer of precious metals in my community; I've had great exposure to many ideas and a year of prior experience selling my wares independently as an 18 y/o noob on craigslist, and that alone was SO rewarding, SO fulfilling, that after a brief break (aka another college semester taking the 4 most challenging courses in my academic career), I'm ready to tackle the market full-swing and start earning consistent income doing what I truly love - now with an engineer's mindset! Hahaha, feels good just writing that and thinking of the possibilities. I enjoy your enthusiasm for matters such as peaceful parenting, the NAP, and conscious decision making in your personal relationships based upon virtue rather than mere proximity. If I'm not mistaken, you're also a budding entrepreneur as I've read in some of your other posts on this board? I'd be pretty cool to get in touch with you and talk about all that and more. Geeze, every young person on this board appears to be ahead of the herd with regards to accepting the responsibility of persuing one's passions and setting goals in life around those innate desires! It's really great to hear that you've turned your hobby into your profession, Alec. It'd totally be a trill for me as well to get in touch with you and any young OR old FDR listeners online! Thanks, Ricardo, I've added you on Skype! I made sure to reference FDR, my username on the message board, and this thread in particular in the invitation message. Here are some ways to get in touch with me: Skype: "gg.rickjames" Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197964795075/ Chess.com: http://www.chess.com/members/view/Shnugwa (1v1 me bro) I really look forward to connecting with you folks!

Sup, JakeN. I'm a 19 year old American FDR listener, have been for a little over 1 year. I too wonder the degree to which members of my generation have been graced with the infectuous message of liberty, philosophy, and ancap ideology. Are you by chance in public school? Having already been exposed to the broad message of freedom aspoused by Ron Paul, government corruption and conspiracy by Alex Jones, and anarchocapitalism from Adam Kokesh at the age of 17, I hadn't yet known the joy of Stephan's "philosophizing" community, but these ideas made school even more enjoyable at the time because I stopped taking the folks at the good ol' local indoctrination center so seriously. That was a short 2 years ago, and so much change has taken place in my life since its headspinning sometimes, not to say that life's necessarily easier in all aspects since learning volumes from the show. Under 20, reader? Post!

I myself struggled initially in the beginning semesters of my persuit for a degree in Engineering with some self-doubt in my mathematical ability. However, I had breezed through all mathematics courses in my public school education from Kindergarten up through 9th grade when I finally took geometry. I then had a slew of horrible teachers for Geometry, Pre-calculus, and AP Calculus. An authoritarian southern belle who wrote formulas on the board with no context or worked-through examples, writing up detentions for myself and others who dared question her methods of teaching, effeminate male blabbermouths who spent more time lecturing men on the proper treatment of women and delivering utterly creepy sensual jokes and performances every single class to entice giggles from the row of hot 16 year old girls that sat behind me, and emotionally insecure teachers who'd make a slew of mistakes sometimes pausing to cry while my dickish classmates actively plotted and schemed on how to best interrupt class in the "funniest" ways - these 3 years of mathematical misery almost killed my innate love of math from childhood. Up until that streak, it was all A's in math with no effort outside the classroom whatsoever. Slowly, my grades slipped into the B/C/D range in math only, whereas I maintained a consistent A/B average in the rest of my classes through high school. Then, going to college, and really being in a similar mental situation as you, I thought I wasn't good at math anymore. I even failed and dropped my course on Statics, which is a heavily trigonometrical-based class on the analysis of systems in equilibrium. It sure felt miserable, and the very thought of feeling hopelessly lost on mere algebra is something that I can sympathize with and empathize with from my own conflict with advancing in math. Please do elaborate on why it is that you believe you can't arrive at the correct answer. The problem you outlined is fairly straightforward, as merely multiplying 7,000,000,000 by 0.02 would yield the very answer you got by definition of 2%. Have you taken math classes before perusing your degree in public, private, or homeschooling environments? What were your experiences there? I have some thoughts, but it'd be helpful to see deeper into the situation.

I wans't aware that there was a meetup group anywhere near my area! This is cool; thanks for the warm greeting and invitation. Though I'll be busy studying for my finals at that time, hopefully I'll be able to attend next time. I've joined the group.
