  1. Once she pinched me in the arm and I told her it was wrong and she made a non-excuse but at least did not repeat it. The most violent thing I remember my father doing to me was pretending to be a gorilla to chase me to bed. Mostly I complied when my parents would suggest or decide something. One thing was: at a time I wanted to sleep on the floor rather than in a bed and I was not allowed to. They didn't reason with me but rather told me I was not allowed to because it disturbed their aestetics. When I had trouble with mathematics in 3-4th grade my mother sat with me to go through it and using some bribery (maybe candy) and that helped me get going and after that I didn't have any trouble in that subject.
  2. Hello from Stockholm too! Here is my introduction. I recently got the result of my Swedish Mensa IQ test: 131(40 out of 45). (lots of uncertainty about the result as I answered 5+ questions without looking at them and 2+ I did not understand. This means I now have documentation to show I am a deviant I have asked my mother about why my parents did not beat or yell at us children and she said she did not know, "it just wasn't needed". Still it was not all negotiation and I can see how parents might do better and one of my sisters is more into that and it will be interesting to see how her children will be as adults, for now they are a delight. I particularly enjoy finding nonstandard ways to do things. I have listened to FDR for about a year. Also the books. I expect I'll have some questions later.
