I took it to mean, the job interview is over, he has the job, he can stop defending/proving himself, and the work of the president begins.

I felt "happiness" and a sense of "pride" seeing Stefan back on this show. I believe many more invites to come, not just from Alex, but from "others" too. Its great to see him, his opinions/views/knowledge/work appreciated/recognised. Well done Stefan and the FDR team. Bring on 2016, the proliferation of the conversation and the opening of many more minds. I thank you.

@Understand, frankly your post is ignorant and imature, it reads like you believe youve had the most profound thoughts. I find your post laughable, ridiculous, and I question your grip /understanding on/of reality. What is it that you "believe" is going on at FDR?. Your post shows no understanding/respect for the concepts/ideas that underpin Stefans work or their future implications.

When will a free society take my children from me?
MrNlul77 replied to Donnadogsoth's topic in Peaceful Parenting
@donnadogsoth, you are a troll!. Don't feed the trolls!. -
@Mantis You say "my argument is" then waffle on with your opinions/irrational beliefs/faith nonsense and citing irrelevant studies/theories. You've have made it clear your not interested in the truth, debating and you've nothing to offer in the way of an argument. It also clear your ignorant of the atheist position and I doubt you even understand the theist position either. You've been given your beliefs/faith and your desparate to justify them/it. You make it an undeniable fact that your imature and aggressive. All you offer is trolling. Zzzzzzz

Philosophy makes me unhappy. I can no longer justify it.
MrNlul77 replied to utopian's topic in Philosophy
@utopian, You seem to believe that learning/reading philosophy will make you happy, you've missed the point, philosophy is about understanding the truth. Self knowledge, is fundamentally different from knowledge of society/the world. A person could "know everything" about society and yet know little about themselves. Without self knowledge you'll never know what it is that makes you happy, you'll never know how to bring about your personal freedom(which is where it all starts). Without self knowledge you'll never know if you're actually part of the problems that exist in society and you'll never know how to change, not just yourself but, to a far lesser degree, society. With self knowledge you will realise what type of person are you, what do you find important/right/wrong/good bad, you can then make choices about what you areas you need to work on in order to free yourself and bring about real long lasting happiness/freedom. You could give up and comprise/forget/abandon your integrity, happiness, freedom, morality, "virtue" if thats "your choice", you could ignore reality and live in a delusion, the majority of society do. Forget about saving the world, get yourself into therapy and concentrate on saving yourself. Also, not everyone has what it take to spread the message of philosophy. Some of us have to just live our lives as happy/free as we can; however, what we can do is be factual/truthful in the things we talk about and with the people we meet. P.s, I was going to ignore your post but it made me a bit upset/pissed me off, you attacked something of importance, not just to me, but to a lot of people. Philosophy is not a game, the work Stefan, Mike and the FDR team/community do changes lives and hopefully the future of society. Don't try to belittle it, there are enough trolls out there. Finally, I caution you on your dependence on this girl/woman for your happiness. -
I read the information from the link you provided and im still reading the citations/studies contain within it, its very interesting actually, thanks for that im learning a lot about autism, Every day is a school day. As yet, i dont have enough information to form an informed opinion about the studies, but what is clear, from your post and from what ive read so far, is that you haven't read the information, and that your ignorant of HFA. The terms "I imagine", "In my opinion" are subjective. It's evident that your searching for something to justify, in your own mind, your irrational belief/"faith" in a deity/god by attempting to discredit/disporove the atheist position, this study isnt the answer. No amount of these type of studies will ever undermine the nature of reality and as such they'll never be proof of the existence of a deity/god.

Self asteem has been shown to be a factor in postpartum depression. Does self knowledge and the processing of trauma increase self esteem?
-
As I understand it, A theist rejects logic and reason in their conclusion of the existence of a deity/god and uses faith as their basis. An atheist bases their conclusion of the non existence of a deity/god on empirical evidence(lack of), logic and reason. If "evidence" of a deity were to exist then the atheist position would no longer be rational/valid. My adoption of the atheist position is not my choice, its my acceptance of the nature of reality.

You dragged me back in, Firstly, Ill disregard the derision evident in your response. Secondly, Again you offer nothing but nonsense statements. "Dont make me blow up on you" = your emotional response "Touting" = putting forward "Making ad-hom attacks" = addressing your position "You sound very very angry and really emotional" = your response to not being agreed with. "Are you upset?" = psychological projection "Needs a stiff drink" = I don't drink "Im coming for you specifically" = Your making a logical/rational conclusion personal. "Dont be bothered by his emotional outbursts" = an attempt at discrediting me and diverting attention form your false position. The study/theory you originally cited is a blatent example of confirmation bias. While there maybe some correlation between those who experience ACE and the atheist position, that in no way proves causation. Finally, I put forward the theory that, those who pursue self knowledge and base there conclusions on evidence/logic/reasoning/reality and value truth, whether having experienced ACE or not, will arrive at the atheist position.
-
@Mantis your clearly avoiding every question/point put to you. You have offered a theory and others have put forward logical/rational objections/reasons for it being false. All you keep doing is making irrelevant/nonsense statements. You have no interest in discussion/debate, you have no interest in the facts/truth, you have your "faith" in "god" and your mind is closed to reality/the truth. I liken this thread to, you made a post claiming 2+2=5 and others( those who are accept empirical evidence/logic/reason/reality) are explaining to you that in fact 2+2=4. Due to your closed mind you will not accept the truth. From my perspective you've been offered "the pill", many times, and you keep spitting it back. This non-discussion is a waste of time.

A person doesnt "convert to atheism", atheism is a logical/rational conclusion. Regardless of a how a persons dad was, any person who uses empirical evidence/logic/reasoning as the basis for their conclusions will arrive at the atheist position. Saying that those with good dads should be theists is ridiculous. FDR promotes truth, and as a result the rational conclusion of atheism. Your implication that the FDR community are atheists due to ACE is utter nonsense. Start looking into the connection between theists and ACE.
-
@mantis Atheism, has nothing to do with faith, its a rational opinion bases on empirical evidence, logical consistency and reasoning. The rejection of "god" is due to "god" not existing in reality. In short, what you posted is a load of nonsense. Also, all theists are "99.99%" atheists.

The goal of Philosophy is not freedom, its truth. Even in a "free society" there will be questions to which the answers are not known. What the questions are, only time will tell.

I understand what you mean. I was laughing at the start, but my feelings soon turned to pity, disgust, anger and sadness.
