  1. He had his 3 million dollar bail reduction revoked on the case. This is the most recent post I could find: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/martin-shkreli-who-raised-drug-prices-5-000-percent-heads-into-fraud-trial/ He also had his bail revoked on the Clinton case.
  2. I saw the debate hosted on Scott Adams' site. And, I can't wait to hear it - later tonight. I really think Sam Harris would be outmatched by Stefan. Harris has trouble even understanding truth as heard in his debate with Psych' Prof' Jordan B. Peterson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gdpyzwOOYY The debate starts going wrong pretty quick, for Sam, at the 40 minute mark.
  3. I will add in my .02 cents, here. I just finished Robert Wright's Moral Animal (recommended). His conclusion is that free will is just socialized instinct. Near the end of the book, a quote from Wright: "our conscious mind isn't privy to all the motivating forces." And from Darwin (within Moral Animal): "the general delusion about free will obvious... his motives [are] mostly instinctive." My take on Wright and Darwin's argument is that consciousness is developed from the unconscious mind. And, the conscious mind is just a tool of the unconscious. I thought it was an interesting argument, so I shared it here. Also, in psychology, the term subconscious is no longer really used, but unconscious is. I like unconscious better too, because "sub" makes it sound inferior to the conscious mind, which it is not. The unconscious has been developed over millions of years and Stefan has mentioned, before, that it operates much faster than the conscious mind. Great discussion here.
  4. In the interview, I think you got "triggered." The difficult situation brought up emotions, potentially from your past. The triggering often leads to, what I call, "self-soothing" behaviours. These are repetitious behaviours to help cool you down. These behaviours may or may not have worked for you in the past. I am kind of relating to your situation as to what has happened to me, in these types of situations. I have mentioned this to others. But, I generally write down social situations, which have triggered me, on paper. This helps me get rid of the emotional charge. It may work for you. Beating yourself up, after a difficult situation, is definitely not the way to go. Counselling can also strengthen your resistance to being triggered.
  5. I boycotted Budweiser a long time ago. Their beer tastes like horse pee. A boycott is no problem for me. I just cannot believe how many companies hang themselves, by becoming political. Nordstrom's is the latest: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/02/08/exclusive-women-nationwide-boycott-political-decision-drop-ivanka-trump-line/
  6. I like journalling. Have you tried it? It is sometimes cathartic to get some of those disappointments down on paper. It can discharge some of the emotion behind them too, from my experience.
  7. The last girl I went out with was a feminist (learned this later). She also worked in the government. She told me that I had to be a feminist, to date her and how white men were the cause of most of the world's problems. So, I basically have to hate myself (a white man) to date her. I don't think so. Lesson learned, moving on.
  8. I would recommend not dating single moms. Stefan talks about this a lot. I am definitely no expert on dating. But, Stefan has mentioned Tom Leykis before. He runs an online radio show and one of his segments is about dating, called Leykis 101. It airs on Thursdays, probably around 4:00pm (PST). Maybe try out some of these shows, or call into Stefan's show.
  9. Hi RP, I am a new member too. As my background, I studied English and Psych', in school. I started developing an interest in Philosophy at the end of the my academic career and it led me to the Freedom Domain website. I have read a number of Mr. Molyneux's books and I have listened to over a 100 podcasts. I really enjoy his approach to social issues. Though, I still like to read my own material e.g. Desmond Morris' The Human Zoo. This is my long-winded Hello.
