How Balanced Budgets Create Unemployment
DaveR replied to Nima's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
i know people disagree on what constitutes money, currency, value, credit etc, but i think mosler is disingenuous here. The amount of business cards in circulation is irrelevant. they are a unit of measurement, a representation, not value itself. MV will always equal PQ afterall. What matters is what backs that value. Printing more business cards doesnt change the value.- 40 replies

Have they? Certainly the Schiff hyperinflationista types have been wrong, but REAL inflation (ie wages vs prices) has been severe since 2007, hence, imo, why brexit and the trump candidacy, both anti establishment movements, have been possible. Real wages in the UK have fallen by more than the 70s stagflation, more than the great depression, more than any time in the past 150 years (and, possibly, many centuries). i recall reading real US household income hasnt materially advanced since the 70s (gold standard, anyone...) Remember, inflation, or CPi/RPi is whatever govt deems it to be, not what the average person actually experiences. My first job, about 16 years ago, paid £7 an hour. That gradually went up to about £11 around 2005. Then they fired everyone, re-hired eastern europeans, paid them the then min wage of about £5, and now they still pay min wage, around £7. i doubt thats unusual. BTW, that graph finishes in 2014, at around 9% 7y ch. For 2015 it had fallen further to 10.4%, and given the weaker £ (inevitable regardless of brexit imo), is likely to hit 12% this year. it does and it doesnt imo. Certainly, when debts are created, the bulk of the cost is borne immediately through purchasing power debasement. Yes, the debts never get paid down & are as such not a worry) ...but the interest costs remain. My basic view is why have debt money when money can be printed free of debt... https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc51BC8smYKM9Af4hDWYcQ9WC-FJNeU39

Project Veritas ("Rigging" the Election), Watch it.
DaveR replied to RichardY's topic in General Messages
This election in the UK is exactly as i remember 2000. Not so much election coverage, just a daily roundup of Bush/Trump being the object of ridicule, virtually nothing on the other contender. -
People have been going on about the derivatives 'bubble' since the GFC started. Im pretty unconvinced. These multi trillion dollar numbers are theoretical maximums if every last one gets called upon. Its like saying 'Insurer 1 has a trillion dollars of exposure/liabilities If every building in the country catches fire at the same time' I guess if a meteor struck it could happen, but that theoretical maximum is a pretty inane figure in day to day life. There will be bets on the value of the dollar halving and doubling at the same time, or farmers holding insurance against both drought and a market saturated by high yields in that 'XXX trillion liabilities' number. Clearly both arent going to happen simultaneously. As you say, its a massive casino, and bets are two sided and issued to cancel each other out. If it did present a problem, govt would likely just put a 99.9% tax on payouts and cycle it back the issuer/holder. That money is a theoretical amount, afterall. There isnt $1.5 quadrillion in circulation right now, so keeping it out of the economy isnt going to matter much. Same with so called government 'unfunded liabilities', though I think they are somewhat more relevant numbers. Who knows what they'll be. We dont know how long people will live, what care they'll need in later life. That said, I give casino owners a lot more credit than banksters. If they can fuck up, banksters will fuck up.

Denninger gave it a theoretical/mathematical maximum of 4 years iirc.

Seems more and more are dong this...old holborn, a UK libertarian commentator upped sticks and moved to bulgaria a while ago after a paper 'outed' him and the police visited... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415122/Twitter-troll-unmasked-Father-Britains-vilest-internet-trolls-exposed-posting-sick-jokes-Hillsborough-disaster.html https://twitter.com/Holbornlolz http://bastardoldholborn.blogspot.co.uk/ Before brexit is finalized im thinking of buying a property in east Europe as a plan B...Detroit prices without Detroit type inhabitants (except the gypsies perhaps) Not sure how feasible it is as anything other than a retirement destination or bolt hole. Obviously a lot of McAfee types fleeing to south america found what you avoid in taxes, you pay the local mafia instead. We have a lot of slavs in the UK now. Those ive spoken to say if you want to make an acceptable wage, you need to know the right people. Though on the plus side no one will arrest you for bad mouthing islam, as in western Europe.

Polish up that tin foil hat.. Are we headed to WW3?
DaveR replied to bigbusa's topic in General Messages
Its an interesting thought. I do recall with one of the flu or ebola scares over the last few years one us politician or donor was found to have bought up a mass of some drug companies stock just before the US govt bought a mass of its product as a precaution (that never got used - iirc it had a short shelf life. Countless millions of taxpayer dollars up in smoke) Was it granted a monopoly? I thought there was a competitor who just decided to get out of the market Socialized medicine IMO isnt the defining issue...if it was about the buying power of large, nationalized healthcare systems, that wouldnt be much of an issue given that the US healthcare market is dominated by a few large healthcare chains. Such chains likely have just as much buying power as a small european nation like Portugal or Belgium. Drugs are cheaper everywhere, regardless of level of socialization. The US patient in effect subsidizes 90% of the cost of developing drugs due to this. Good for those in developing countries, bad for americans. Drugs are expensive because the US has re-importation bans and anyone who refuses to buy off the cartels is criminalized. http://www.fiercepharma.com/pharma/pharma-wins-another-round-fight-against-dreaded-drug-reimportation Land of the free...when it comes to healthcare...not so much. I do find the epipen debacle quite darkly humourous though... http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/24/company-gouging-price-of-epipens-is-a-clinton-foundation-donor-and-partner/ -
Guess depends how politcally incorrect you want to be. Clearly white people are fair game, but Jews, who are far more 'privileged' are not. I guess you can joke about the Jews, ie in Family guy. but thats where it stops. For example, one of the most powerful world leaders of the time... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/mar/26/lula-attacks-white-bankers-crash As if, when you hear the names Greenspan, Bernanke, Blankfein, blue eyes are what come to mind. Dont get me wrong, im no anti-semite. The Japs had the same issues, and I cant see them having ceded power of their financial system to Jews. Its one of greed encouraged by govt policy, not Jews. Its endemic to all societies with centralized power structures. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/oscars/board-behind-oscars-white-male-article-1.2504899 Same with the Oscars. I can confirm 8 jews (it should be 1 to reflect the USA) from the 51 whites (probably a lot more, thats just the ones I can confirm without wasting too much time on it). Even the black female president is married to a Jew. If the BLM crowd get touchy about there being one or two 'too few' blacks, maybe they should be reminded that minus Jews, whites are 'underepresented' too. Is a redheaded kid from a trailer park in Georgia really any more likely to succeed in Hollywood than a black kid from the ghetto? Personally I doubt it. So remind the blacks that whenever they berate white people, if ever white people go or disappear. Identity politics doesnt stop there. You see all these blacks and half blacks at BLM, but the half blacks must realize they are next. In Haiti, the blacks resent the mulattos, who they consider to be the ruling class. Heres what I mean... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/film/nina/simone-zoe-saldana-casting-light-skin/ So indoctrinated are the BLM crowd, that they need to make something out of this. As a Brit, Im quite pale. Someone like me wouldnt be cast as some lothario based on that alone. He may be white, but he'd be expected to have a good tan. Does it bother me? Not in the slightest. But apparently it really bothers darker blacks that lighter blacks might be seen as more attractive. Why would conventional standards of beauty bother anyone. Obese people are less attractrive. Emaciated people are less attractive. Very pale people less attractive. Very dark people, less attractive. Very short people, less attractive. Freakishly tall people, less attractive. Very bald people, less attractive. People with a hairline that starts half an inch above their eyebrows, less attractive. Paradoxically, being 'average' is highly attractive. My basic observation is identity politics never stops. Once its sidelined one group, it just gets going on the next. Or maybe blacks are more susceptible to this. Blacks seem to be incredibly offended if it is suggested white IQ may be higher than black IQ. I dont know many whites who are too bothered East Asian IQ may be higher than white IQ.

And yet 63% in both recent elections voted Islamist AKP/MHP. 40% of turkey is Alevi (shia) or Kurd...but I think the 60% of Turks who are mainline sunni want an Islamic theocracy and voted accordingly.

Solutions to Europe's Muslim problem without violating the NAP?
DaveR replied to Cruiser's topic in General Messages
I would say ostracism of people practicing totalitarian ideologies like Islam, but people are too lazy. The local (muslim administered) curry house near me has been raided several times for employing illegal immigrants, and temporarily shut down for health and safety violations. Still native Britons go there. -
Interesting. I look around europe, and of all the muslim diaspora, the most dysfunctional (at least in violence and terror aspects) appear to be the North Africa 'magrebis' living in France. The least, the Turks resident in Germany. However, again, I dont know how much of the problems with muslims in France is due to their socialist labour laws creating totally un-integrated ghettos, fermenting problems.

Will Stef now renege on his recently announced boycott of the UK after the Khan election?! We're not all beholden to the establishment Stef, just London. You can come visit the rest of the country. We need your loonies converted into sterling, its taking a beating!

Of course there are degrees of anything. Islam as a whole is a bad ideology, just like Socialism is. Obviously communist socialism is more dangerous than post war social democracy, though, in both, i think there is a slide towards fundamentalism. I guess there is the question of how much of it is the 'religion' vs. the 'culture' The US until recently, I am informed, had a mainly shia muslim population in the form of Persians. They are not economically dysfunctional and tend to be seen as one of America's more benevolent immigrant cohorts. However, is it because they are Shias, (religion) or because they are educated middle class Persians fleeing orthodoxy? (culture) In the UK, most of the muslims in the North are Mirpuri muslims (generally the most inbred, backward of Pakistanis..they make up the bulk of the paedo gangs). The Punjabis (of which Sadiqque Khan, the Sultan of Londonistan is one) are generally considered less troublesome...though even Sadiqque Khan attended a rally to encourage the boycott of Ahmadi Muslims (a sect that specifically repudiates violent Jihad...one of whom was murdered by a mirpuri in Glasgow earlier this year). Regardless, around 65% of muslims in the UK are deobandi (Taliban ideology) or Wahhabi. Sunni and hardly moderate denominations. My view is if you need economic migrants (something I doubt) why even consider any muslims? We know there are many willing non-muslim asians desirous to come to the west and they are virtually GUARANTEED to not have the Islamic baggage. Yes, its discriminatory, but the whole point of borders is precisely to discriminate.

This is Britain. The (government) McPherson report defines racism as... “any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person”. Yup. Britain crossed the Sarkeesian 'everything is sexist' retardation rubicon back in 1999. Even in 1980 the govt (scarman Report) defined it as the utterly inane "power+prejudice=racism" so beloved by SJWs. BTW, you must be a massive racist for posting in English. What horrific ethnocentrism!

That was an argument i considered, but i believe most people would not only be outraged by the mothers loss, but that a young life had been snuffed out. Abortion seems to transfer the decision of whether a life is worth life from courts and government to the whim of the mother, a single individual.

Kick a pregnant women in the belly till her baby dies. See if society is outraged at the death of said baby, then you get your answer. Women kills her own baby, she made the right choice. Anyone else kills it, they are the devil incarnate.

Hope this hasnt been covered before. Here in UK, lots of people seem to be getting sent to prison for 'possessing' child pornography. Not participating in the production thereof, mind, simply downloading that what already exists. My general belief has been that as it already exists, that childs rights have been breached anyway, and it seems rather pointless to criminalize people on that basis (although I would be very tough on those who go on to rape, to the point of castration even) Possession by a third party does not alter the fact those images already exist. On a practical level (and perhaps this is irrelevant, principles are paramount) I imagine a cocooning effect (as Stefan I believe has mentioned in respect to online porn satiating the desires of would be rapists and sexual predators) may also reduce the incidence of child rapists. On the other side of things, they are none the less consumers of illicit material. I don't know what Stefans views are on, say, handling stolen goods (even if you are unaware they are stolen...although that is unlikely to be an excuse where child porn is considered unless the child is near the age of consent), but should people be criminalized merely for possessing child pornography?

I read his grandpappy owned a Brothel. Seems blaming the sins of the father on the son are not enough for the MSM, have to go straight to grandad now. I think the MSM are getting more rabid in their attacks on Trump as some meat is put on the bones of his policies and it becomes clear: Some figures on Healthcare... https://market-ticker.org/post=231191 Look at how much the drugs and health insurers spend on Lobbying. The NRA which leftists loves to tell us has 'bought congress' doesnt even get a look in.

I tend to agree with Ben Shapiro and his diagnosis of (american) Jewish attitudes towards immigration. He has noted that non-practicing/secular Jews tend to be leftist and pro-immigration and vote heavily Democratic. More Orthodox Jews tend to vote more Republican. FWIW in the UK Jews tend to vote Conservative, although the current conservative party is not very conservative, particularly on immigration. Agreed about your point on Islamic immigration into Europe. A muslim majority europe will certainly not likely have Israel friendly intentions. Already in the UK the elected MP for Bradford West (heavily Muslim city, constituency was over 51% muslim at the point of the 2011 census, itself an over 50% increase on the 2001 census figures) advocated a ban on Israelis entering his city. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/08/07/ban-israeli-tourists-from-bradford-says-george-galloway_n_5657464.html I think the Israeli government is aware of the direction things are going, and are not entirely sure of how to handle it. Events like Netanyahu going so far as to say Hitler 'only wanted to expel the Jews, it was a muslim demanding their annihilation' seem designed to speak implicity to the Germans about their immigration policies inviting in anti-jewish sentiment. Diplomatically, Netanyahu can't be seen to be directly telling the Germans what to do, but Netanyahu's recent appearance at the UN, glancing at minister Steinmeier while talking of anti-semitism in Europe seems a pretty clear "your immigration policies are inviting these attitudes into europe' https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2015/10/21/netanyahu-says-palestinian-gave-hitler-idea-for-the-holocaust/

Perhaps depends on what is going on in his head. I was quite shocked to hear Stef remark Ali has a very low IQ during a recent podcast. Sure some charismatic individuals who are gifted with linguistic abilities may nonetheless be bereft of reasoning abilities, but he struck me as genuinely insightful. On the other hand maybe he is just parroting what Malcolm X and similar were saying at the time. FWIW I believe he has since renounced such attitudes...though not sure if the renouncement is genuine. That clip always makes me laugh however. Ali never looked all that black compared to some. Probably some white admixture in there somewhere along the line.
-
Im not personally won over yet on the IQ arguments. My reservations are far more simple. In a democracy, individuals do not matter, groups do. Its groups in the form of voting blocs that guarantee power. Its why identity politics will never go away, and even if people get along on an personal level, will, at voting time, due to the ceaseless identity politics propaganda, vote for 'their' group. I think its better to campaign for a post-democratic age than occupy the mind with individual policies within the governmental sphere.
-
My school teachers always said 'patriotism is the love of your own countries, nationalism is the hatred of others' I suspect the definitions of love and hate however prove mysteriously fluid whether the country in question happens to be white majority or not.

McDonald's as oasis for people who are jobless
DaveR replied to AccuTron's topic in General Messages
Forget whether it was KFC or MacDonalds, but I read somewhere in price per calorie, one of them is the most efficient place to eat, thus providing ample fuel to sustain the human body should it have to sleep outside -
I agree with the first part. Certain lines of work blacks are over-represented in (prostitution, pimping, narcotic distribution) have been criminalized, although IMO, are not inherently evil, whereas other lines of work (money counterfeiting/banking) that whites/Jews are over-represented in, that have not been criminalized (and are actually given legal protections), are indeed evil. I don't see welfare collection as a evil, as it is taken (evil) and received (not evil) by two different parties. One must also consider overall in welfare terms, its not black males who cost the most, but little old white ladies who refuse to die. A white woman will typically outlive a black male by 10 years. Thats at least 10 more years healthcare and pensions...a far greater cost than whatever black males receive. It would also be interesting to break child abuse down to class levels. Is it a 'black thing' or a 'poor thing' It is thus very sad to see the Black Lives Matter Crowd go "F*** the Police" (the enforcers of unjust laws) rather than "F*** the politicians" (the actual creators of unjust laws). The police actually do a very racially blind job of law enforcement. Yes, there are anti-black officers, but generally, given the degree to which they are monitored, put their politics behind their job. Its not their fault the laws are created to target the black demographic.
