  1. Hello Blanka, I would love to have a beer sometime! How can i add you on wickr or bitmessage? Greetings, vudewnl
  2. Hello LamaEscondida, There are many books written about that subject. I could name a quite few dutch ones if you'd like but i really doubt you could "gain the intellectual weapons to take down anyone". It is like saying that you want a book that teaches you how to beat every great chess player. Now this is great when you are playing chess with great chess players. But if instead great chess players you play a chimpanzee the book will do you no good. What will happen is that when you play a chimpanzee you are going to start by planning your next chess move in a brilliant way. And when it is the chimpanzee's turn he is just going to flip the board over and make some loud noises while throwing the chess pieces all over the room. You are operating on the assumption that people are logical entities and presented with the right data that they will suddenly see reason and just update their believes and behaviour. I can tell you from personal experience that this is not the case.
  3. I really liked your video, and the situation you described really hit home for me and i think a lot of other people here. My reason for not knocking really loudly on the door to follow your analogy is that i have to much doubt wether there really is a fire coming and how it will look if any will come. Don't get me wrong i do see that there are a lot of things in motion in the world that seem to be on a road towards disaster but i do not know when it will happen or how it will look like. Wether it will be fast or that it will be so terribly slow that people are not really going to react much to it. Maybe only certain parts of the world will be struck most, maybe everything will be fine for the next 40 years and my time will be much better spend becoming a peacefull parent. Long story short, there are just to many uncertainties still for me. Secondly, should you be knocking on the peoples doors at all? Let's say to make your analogy more accurate that all these people living in the houses that surround you all smoke ciggarettes and they all go in to the woods nearby to smoke them. You yourself do not smoke and have been telling people that they should put out their cigarettes when they throw them away in the woods. But people do not seem to listen, and they keep on throwing lit cigarettes in the woods and now the village is about to burn down for the 20th-something time in history. Why not just warn only the non smokers and leave with them? Does the next village not have a much higher change of not burning down if you just leave all the ones who did not want to hear the warnings? I know it might sound awfully cruel. But if people are not even curious in the slightest when someone tells them there is a fire coming and that their actions are part of what causes the fire. Then these are probably not the people you want to have in your next village after this one burns down right? And besides isn't it counter productive to say on one hand: "I think a world without fire is worth fighting for". And on the other hand: "I must warn and help the people who cause the fire and whom have shown no interest to stopping or preventing fires what so ever"?
  4. I do not see how rewarding plays an significant role in this situation. However the answer to the question : 'is it immoral to knowingly conceive and raise a child with someone who is dishonost?' should be yes if you have strong feelings about dishonesty. If you truly believe that dishonesty is immoral and damaging then it is most certainly immoral to expose your unborn child to this. But i do see that there are a lot of 'what if''s in this situation like the last woman on earth scenario for example.
  5. Hello there, I found FDR roughly a year ago listened to many podcasts and videos and i really enjoy the time spent listening to them. The reason i enjoy them so much i think is because i have always been drawn to having meaningfull conversation with people. And i seem to be able to relate much more to a lot to the podcasts and videos even though i do not agree with everything said and i am not even an active participant in them. Yet i also think it is this very desire for connection in such a way that has caused me much loneliness. As a small child i experienced a great disconnect between me and the people surrounding me. I was tremendously bullied at school and i had a very bad home and parental situation. So as a child i started spending most of my time inside my own head as a way of coping. For my entire childhood i was a complete dreamer many times not even hearing when people would adress me for 4-5 times in a row. For most of the time i was quite bored at school because i could learn really well and everything was quite easy. And i could not really connect with anyone because i was bullied so badly wich made me withdraw heavily within myself. I remember that since grade 6(8-9year old) i used to constantly play a game with myself in where i would try to break down the definition of everything surrounding me. For instance i could spend entire afternoons thinking about the concept as simple as a door, or how a tree stood in relation to funguss etc. This mindset led me to more problems, i attended an roman catholic school and i stopped praying ever since i saw someone on television say that there are over 250 different religions. Long story short, logic has always come very easily for me and it does not seem te be the case for most people who surround me and it has caused me to struggle greatly with finding true connection and made me struggle with many bouts of alienation. Fast forward many years and experiences later and i am now an 27 year old developer/hacker/entrepeneur who spends a lot of time on self knowledge and philosophy. In the last 5 years i have grown tremendeus as a person and became a lot more knowledgable, Yet this ironicaly also caused even more loneliness and disconnect. But for the last year i have become more and more aware that there are a lot more people who think like me and that there is no reason not to try and find some of these people to share some ideas and thoughts with. And i thought here would be a great place to find some of these people, so hi!
