Can we have our philosophy show back yet?
Blimpmerchant replied to Invicta's topic in General Messages
Well, the OP didn't exactly word it as a rational question regarding the future direction of the show as you have, it was more of an outburst and assumption that only Ancaps subscribe to Stefan. The video also talks towards the relationship between both parties, this is also under the assumption that Trump is essentially a red tie and not a normal dude running for presidency. It's also worth mentioning that a truckload of political corruption spilled all over the united states during this election, putting Trump outside of the malarkey and making him a wild card sort of character that isn't within the frame of political corruption discussed within this 2008 Stefan video. Now, I'll also assume some things myself. These exact reasons are what I assume are the reasons why Stefan supported Trump, I mean if the game itself, the political landscape instantly becomes twisted and we have an opportunity to get an outsider in office who talks (for the most part) of things we can tend to agree with, isn't this good? Many of the videos he created on Trump appeared to mostly point out the inadequacies of the media, the left, and the existing political parties through a vehicular example of Trump. A two-dimensional inspection versus a larger picture three-dimensional inspection of the overly-produced Trump videos as of late are two very different things. America was in a major election and the corruption was running rampant, why wouldn't you want to cover that? Do we hide in a hole of AnCap and become connoisseurs of ourselves, or do we inspect and keep in touch with common tongue? I mean if it was 1856 and Dred Scott v. Sandford was in progress and the newspaper press was only discussing one clearly bias view, yet we're against the government entirely.. wouldn't we be interested in "keeping up with the times" and covering the hypocrisies of it all? This is probably one hell of a sloppy example, but I think it gets my thought process across. Granted, I too am becoming fatigued to all of this Trump discussion and this is not an apology for MMDs passive-aggressive post (Bullet 7 in the guidlines). I'm eagerly looking forward to some well rounded philosophical presentations, those early conversations of self with his cheap ass radio shack headsets were some of the most enlightening and thought provoking podcasts I had ever listened to. Just my two cents in an unintelligible region of space and time full of damn pennies. -
Recently I decided to start with "little steps" towards making something "worth it", in a creative sense. My first video was pretty god awful, this is my second attempt. If you play guitar feel free to check out my method of cleaning and maintaining the neck of my guitar. As always, open to criticism as long as it's constructive.

Need to build a website. Where to go?
Blimpmerchant replied to Dylan Lawrence Moore's topic in Miscellaneous
I would say that's probably the most standard sort of layout for a website, but I disagree with it for the most part. Yes, in WordPress you can create static pages for anything you want. I should have specified when you're browsing themes you should look under wordpress, that seems to be the best solution for you (short of using mysql and php, which can get expensive). I honestly wanted a quicker method, which Is why I went with a CMS (WordPress), it took me a really long time to find a theme I thought was a solid, basic sort of base. After having some time off today due to an upper respiratory problem and a fever I was able to search through the sourcecode of the Corbett Report to determine it does use WordPress. Here is the exact theme he is using. He basically took away some stylization of it and moved a couple things around. -

Spend some time on https://themeforest.net/?osr=tn&_ga=1.162041660.1467878272.1478958848looking for a theme you like the most, then send me a message if you've found anything. I'm currently at work or I'd look for something similar to corbettreport. -
Is it weird I feel bad about how sad people are that Trump won?
Blimpmerchant replied to DaVinci's topic in General Messages
It's just been strange, I feel like I'm on another planet.. or maybe they are? I was vehemently against Hillary Clinton, but if she won I wouldn't have wept while rioting; it seems like it's a really weird example of dislocation from reality. Maybe there's a little empathy for their detachment and cult like following for statism, but I don't know if I'm necessarily sad or want to gloat about the fact that their world is crumbling. It just feels WEIRD, it reminds me of Kim Jong-il and his followers completely losing it when he passed away, in some sort of weird rehash of Munchhausen syndrome where instead of pretending to be sick you create dependency with the people around you for control, they viewed him like a God. This also reminds me of sports too! Why flip cars, light things on fire and have what appears to be you're entire life destroyed by something that you were passionate about? As always in life, things are not fair and life tends to not go your way. I tried to rationalize with a couple friends but they mostly called me a bigot and side stepped all rational arguments, so I'll do what I normally do in these situations- keep my head down and focus on my family/self. You can never alter or change the waves, you can only learn how to sail. In the words of David Sullivan, "I think I might have a platitude problem." -

What are you looking for? How is my little crap site in comparison to what you're looking for? Bryangrusecki.name I've got a new video I'll be uploading on restringing a guitar and cleaning it for the newer guitar players (which I think it a GIANT leap in quality and clarity from my first video). I also post photography and blah blah. Basically, I'm still getting used to posting content and not looking like a total dummy, so if you look at anything please don't be too critical. :] Anyway, I promise that isn't a shameless plug. Take a look at my website briefly and focus on the layout and design. I'd be more than happy to take on the job, however I do work full time so nothing incredibly in depth; I wouldn't want to charge you an insane amount of money for building a website from the ground up as I do not have the time. I could charge a smaller fee to use a CMS (Content Management System) and find/alter a theme for you. I'd also be willing to sort of start the backbone of it by creating a menu of your liking, I'd just need you to do some basic layouts for what links you want, et al. -
Hello from the Great Lakes state!
Blimpmerchant replied to Blimpmerchant's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Absolutely, the stuff was solid towards personal growth and has helped immensely, I think Stefan helped me understand my emotions and help me cope with them. No, I'm from Michigan. :] Oh no, I used to however teach fourth and fifth graders Biology and sailing terminology while being a deck hand on a 1800's style gaft rig schooner. A "blimpmerchant" is "someone who always in looking through portholes." I consider it the outward look from the cabin and the existential consideration that is bound to happen while living on a sailboat. -
Totally doesn't add up with your past actions. Being rude to others interpretations and being defensive isn't in alignment with "anyone have insights that could change my mind?" Good luck.

Hello! My name is Bryan and I've been listening to Stefan on and off for many years. My good friends who has had a terrible whirlwind of a life introduced me to FDR. I've put up with the horribly recorded traffic jam sessions, the scrubbing of the bathroom floor sessions and have seen Stefan grow and change in many ways. I've seen his views change, him become a father, and have had many complex issues brought into context with his silly metaphors while he mastered his craft. One of that arrows into the heart that has sold me on Stefan was his family of origin talks as many of us have come from semi-broken to extremely-broken homes, I've never considered family a concept before Stefan. His burning desire to make sense of the world around him helped me end the emotional abuse, and later attempt to face it, failing then succeeding. My favorite episode is 20, where we heard a somewhat Nietzsche inspired look at the state and sports with a conclusion being simply, state coerce. So, hi.

I'm not sure you can put socializing with strangers on the same plateau as taking your lover on a vacation with you. The girlfriend and I have a "sorta" similar view of things, I like to get down to the nitty gritty of human experience and backpack through rural mexico alone with my homebase being Mexico City.. she on the other hand is okay with drinking and sitting on a beach for a week. Due to the differences, it just sort of happens to fall this way. I prefer an existential vacilando style vacation to grow, she wants to escape her life for a moment. I don't think one is more objective or valid than the other. If he did bring his soon to be wife, then I think he can't force himself into a situation where he's vulnerable because he has his greatest comfort, her love and company, a step away the entire trip. All relationships require sacrifice, so his solo trips will almost HAVE to be diminished in some fashion, that's a sacrifice of a relationship, but I think it's perfectly acceptable that he gets HIS style vacation too. She would have to make that sacrifice herself and allow him to do that, but he would need to make a sacrifice and do a her and him style vacation. This is all of course speculation based upon my own experience. The truth is, you have more freedoms while single, but the perks of a relationship can be astronomical if two people can work as a team.
