I believe in God because I believe in rationality. The Universe is rational, otherwise application of the scientific method or any avenue of inquiry irrational. Only a sentient being can be capable of expression or creation of rationality, therefore the Universe is a sentient being -- GOD.   Peter Erbe: "Ask not who or what is God.  Ask who or what is he not."
