Hello everybody, It's been approximately 4 years now since I've begun to listen to FDR (and almost from the very beginning everyday). Now, I'm planning on creating a YouTube channel where I'd post videos of me basically translating in french Molyneux's videos. But it'd be me in front of the camera, saying what Molyneux says, but with my own way of telling it. I live in Paris right now and everybody is so socialist/pro-immigration out there. Things are turning so badly. I want to bring the good word in french, where libertarian ideas are so uncommon. I want to play my part in the battle for Western Civilization. And since Molyneux is the best at the moment in sharing the truth IMO, I think that translating his core videos are one of the best way to reach my goal. Naturrally, I'll put a link in each of my videos towards the translated video, and also a link to Molyneux's YouTube channel in each description of my videos. But, of course, before posting any video, I need Stefan Molyneux's own accord, or I guess at least a moderator's accord. "Freedom Radio" rolls off the tongue easier, so I figure there is some greater meaning in Freedomain Radio. Free Domain. Does anyone know how Stefan came up with the name? Also, where did the idea ofr the logo come about? I know these aren't philosophical questions really, but I've always been curious.

This youtuber, MatPat, is an expert with regards to growing channels. He can demonstrate how less videos can result in greater growth and even overall views per video. His channel views alone should be enough to back up his claims of expertise (besides the fact he advises large channels) since at 4 million subscribers he gets 75%+ views per Game Theory video. That's massive considering youtube stars such as Markiplier actually rake in less views that he does even though he has a channel 1.5x larger. Even PewDiePie can't compete with those percentages. Yes he has higher view counts but not higher percentages which is key. According to the system MatPat uses he will not, or at least attempts to prevent, subscriber burnout. He gets 75%+ of total subscriber views for each main video and he intends to keep that percentage locked as the channel grows. Imagine if Stef had those same percentages? In essence, MatPat is an expert in creating return customers. I suggest Stefan and the crew look into this if they haven't already and, should they see merit in it, consult this man on how to grow FDR. He may even suggest that the second channel actually hinders Stef's growth. Who knows? He's gone so far as to analyze the youtube algorithm and monitors it for any changes. He makes a good albeit quick case that playing the algorithm is key to getting views and what worked before a new update might not work now thus one must monitor it regularly. It's a scary thought that the distributor, youtube, could be unintentionally destroying your channel but it is a reality. Anyway, here is the video: Y'know, Stef's analysis of movies is fun, but perhaps he could attempt to do what MatPat does with his Game Theory show? Present an interesting theory and argue for it but in the realm of movies or popular books. For example, recall the post Stef had read about Harry Potter being a mental patient in a mental health facility called Hogwarts? That theory was interesting and dare I say brilliant. Mix in the sort of editing style that people appear to enjoy the most (use stock images, no talking head, etc) and this could make for an interesting addition to the channel. If the analysis of MatPat determines that Stef should make less of [X] type of video or space them out more, he will necessarily have more time for other things. We know that some shows are more popular than others like his 'Truth About' series for example. On that note I don't think Stef should address the title of the series in the way he does. It's called 'The Truth' but recently he's tempered that by calling it an opinion. Well, I think he would be better served to explain that, in using the methodology of reason and evidence, he has determined that this is indeed the truth. In calling it that it is left to us, the viewer, to prove him wrong otherwise we cannot claim that Stef's 'truth' isn't actually the truth given that he has adhered to the method by which we would determine it anyway. Suffice to say Stef isn't making a truth claim without evidence thus we can't dismiss it without evidence either. But neither should Stef temper his claim my calling it an opinion. To me the title of the series has always been an open challenge wherein to disagree necessarily requires we refute his reasoning and evidence and not merely his opinion. We can't just say, "That isn't the truth!" because we have no idea what the truth is ourselves. We cannot make such an objective claim. Therefore we must do our due diligence with regard to the topic in order to disagree or just shut up and refer to Stef's reasoning and the evidence he provides. I think making this point, though less harshly, at the beginning of each video would be effective at incentivizing others to investigate the topic themselves (hopefully bringing them to the same conclusion and thus subscribing) and for others to share it as a strong challenge to others. I can't be the only one who sees the title as an open challenge. I think that has a lot to do with it's popularity. Anyway yeah, something to consider for everyone and the FDR crew. Best to refer to an expert with regard to growing the channel until you are one yourself. I guess that's my advice.

There is something I'd like to make the people of FDR aware of... A few months ago, I made contact with a person from FDR through a skype group conversation I am currently hosting, the Philosophy Europe Call. He lives in Sweden, like me. His name is Henrik Eriksson. We started talking to eachother on a daily basis through skype. He was in a very emotionally rough position, so I thought that I'd try to help him out a bit by listening to him and talking to him. From the first time I came into contact with him though, and all our conversations ever since, there was something ''off'' for me in the interaction. I felt uncomfortable. But instead of bringing this up, I pretended like it wasn't there, that it was some fault on my end. However, one night when we talked, I told him that I felt uncomfortable talking to him. I told him that I had been in the wrong fro not bringing it up sooner, that I hadn't been honest with him. It went really bad from here on. Henrik was very upset with this, asking me why I felt uncomfortable. I told him I didn't know why, but he wouldn't settle with that, asking me ''What do you mean you don't know?'' in a very aggressive tone. The next day, I hosted the weekly Philosophy Europe Call. Henrik called in. There were 3 of us in the call at that time. At first he pretended like everything was alright, he came into the call laughing. However, he was very passive-aggressive with the third caller, asking him when he was going to start ignoring Henrik (apperantly Henrik has been ignored by other FDR users before). Also, Henrik started to question caller number 3 about his exercise program, telling him that it was stupid. It was a very, very tense conversation. A few days later, he started to write to me on Facebook, telling me I had no principles, and that I should leave FDR, that he was much ''higher up'' than me, whatever that means. I asked him a few times if we could try to sort things out, but he said he didn't want to have anything to do with me, even though he kept writing to me on Facebook telling me how horrible I was. Then came the call that was the final straw that broke the camel's back for me. It was 10 minutes before I was going to host the Philosophy Europe Call. Henrik called me on skype. I asked what he wanted to talk about (I was quite mad at him at this point because of all the things he had written to me on Facebook). Henrik told me he didn't want to talk about anything with me, yet he still wanted for us to be on that call! I told him I was hanging up on him to host the Philosophy Europe Call, and so I did. He joined that call, and that third caller I mentioned before was in this call aswell, so it was me, Henrik and number 3. Henrik came into the call, pretending once again that everything was all good and joyous, even though he 10 minutes before had said he was very upset and mad. I told him that I didn't want to brush past this tension that was between him and I. But he simply said ''I don't want to talk with you''. I then asked him why he was in the call then. ''I want to talk!'' he than said.Number 3, after telling Henrik that he was annoyed with him saying he wanted to talk, and at the same time he didn't want to talk, dropped from the call after approximatly 10 minutes. I then decided that I couldn't let this shitty interaction with Henrik ruin the call experience for the rest of the coming callers, since there was no reasoning with him. So, I blocked him on skype and on Facebook. However, a week ago, he started calling my cellphone on a private number (meaning I can't block it). The first time he rang, his first words were ''You blocked me from the euro call''. I hung up on him, not wanting anything to do with him. He has called me several days now, 4-6 times a day. Most of the time, I just shut my phone off because he would keep calling even though I kept rejecting them. I wanted to tell you guys this, to give you a heads up about Henrik. I thought I could help him out, but I couldn't. Instead, it turned out really ugly. It fucking sucks to write something like this, but I believe that I am doing a service for other people who might come into contact with Henrik in the future. I don't want anyone else to get into this situation that I am in now. I have experienced it, and I will serve as a warning.

Hi, I'm Adrian from Cluj, Romania and I'm a software developer. I think I stumbled over FDR videos while immersing myself in the libertarian ideology a few months ago. I'm looking to take a break from the forever presence of statist ideology that literally infects my country and look for answers and alternatives to violence, which is immensely popular and normalized by my peers (especially in child-raising). Stephan brings up a fascinating aspect to philosophy, forever changing my previous interpretation of it as a boring, non-practical domain (interpretation inherited from my government schooling period - go figure). I must say I'm a highly skeptical person when it comes to any kind of argument and I think this is what made me to subscribe. While looking up information about Stephan I did encounter some strong (and sometimes valid) criticism about his arguments (for ex: his view of physicists as "lazy & pasty bastards" or some of the RTR concepts) and I'm excited to know what the community's rebuttal is towards some of them. I recognize the intelligence of this community and looking to learn from people smarter than me and, whilst I realize I will not be the most proactive person that joins the forum, I do want to join in conversations and learn as much as I can. There may be some evidence here or it could be just random postulation, but I would like to pose a question and I would be curious to hear feedback. If you were to compare the childhoods of FDR members to the average public would the be worse or better? Would there be certain threads that might make one more likely to not trust authority or question things? Is there a particular type of abuse or neglect that would be less present as that type would tend to be too much for the mind to then be able to transfer to these kinds of ideas? Maybe there is no discernable differences, but it would be interesting to think about the histories of FDR members and what (if any) common threads there are. It could create bias in the ideas of members, make certain people more likely to be able to be reached or not, and many other possible implications. I don't have any particular theories currently, so I am interested as to what others think. I recently read this Time article - http://time.com/2949435/what-i-learned-as-a-woman-at-a-mens-rights-conference/ . In it, the reporter calls Stefan a "radio host" and mentions an interview with Elam on his "radio show". Now part of that is probably due to the sort-of sloppy introduction he got at the Conference, but I've also seen Stefan have to correct his introduction many other times. So is the problem that the show/site is called "Freedomain Radio"? Maybe members of the community can help come up with suggestions for a clearer, better name?

Hello everyone, I've been having a very important thought cross my head these last hours. I've been thinking about how much I value this show, this community and the incredible change that these ideas will make and are already making in the world. I already donate to the show, and I thought that my donation was sufficient to help Stefan grow the show and make the content more accessible and better. But I've thought about what would happen to the world if we lost this community and Stefan's abilities and communication skills. I've been thinking about mortality, and how it is an inescapable fact of life. I then thought about just recently how Stefan got a really close look at that eternal pit of emptiness, and I was terrified. I was extremely scared that we might lose the greatest mind that the world has right now, and our best chance for getting the most important ideas out there. After meditating about this for a while, I decided that I needed to make my commitment to the truth and the future of humanity more evident in my own life. I know that I might die tomorrow, and that Stefan might die as well, and all the other good people in the world could just go out at any time, and for sure, they will go out of this world at some time in the future. And so, I announce my new resolution to change the world in what little way that I know how to, by helping my good friend and personal mentor, mister Stefan Molyneux. Thank you so much for everything that you have done. It must have been so hard to go beyond the lies and propaganda that fill this world. It must have been extremely difficult to face the hostility and sometimes more painful apathy and relativism that define our society. You sir, have changed my life forever. You have made who I am today possible. You have helped me to gain the understanding and mental clarity that I need to make my life, my relationships and the entire world brighter by a single, extremely bright flame. Over a year ago I read this letter at my therapist office and I cried my guts out. I realized what I missed all my life, what my parents didn't give me: Love. This letter helped me to realize that good parents and happy (normal) childhood do exist even if they possibly are 1% of the population but knowing that their numbers will increase in the future brings me joy. With a forum like this one, Stefan Molyneux and many authors who encourage people to know their histories and take their childhood dramas seriously so each one of us can stop the cycle of violence on the self and on others and especially stop violating kids. I am fortunate to have had an uncommon education , my parents raised me like you advise in your writings and I recognized myself in the history of President Gorbachev, I am very happy I did never experienced violence and yet I guess with the stupid things I was doing, other parents would have been extremely violent, I have the proof around me, you're right we must communicate to educate children, never hit them. I'll give you a concrete example. when I was 6 years old my parents one day went to a family party which was 6 km from our suburban neighborhood (Paris) seine saint denis 93, I knew where my parents were gone and knew the way because we often went to this family with my parents, I recorded in my head the way out of habit, so I proposed to my eldest sister of two years to reach both my parents at the party by foot. My sister told me okay, we took the path and went through the main streets, many cars driving fast, a very dangerous road, we arrived safely. Our parents watching us stunned believing that we had arrived to them through someone in my family who have accompanied us. my mother asked us very quietly not to traumatize us and with a smile, how did you come? we answered her by walking! my parents looked at each other and told us you are very smart! I felt myself at that moment, a big boy and they never blamed me or my sister, now I know their heart was pounding for fear of losing us, I can tell you hundreds of stories like this, or the times they feared for me, they had a patient behavior and full of love even in unspoken words, when in the street I was attracted to bad things it always came to my mind a oral agreement unconsciously my parents and I had taken, I would have never broken that oral agreement for anything in the world., I should write a book in tribute to my parents.
