  1. Google is the world's largest breeding ground for sociopaths who see morals as obstacles to overcome, rather than paths to follow. Their utter indifference to the ethical repercussions and potential consequences of their actions is beyond all comprehension. Stefan, if you see this, I need to tell you that I strongly disagree with you about artificial intelligence. It is far more capable than you seem to think. Please watch the videos listed below and make a video on it at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
  2. Hey guys, Wanted to jump right in and say hello! My name is Matthew and I'm a recovering fundimental baptist Originally from West Virginia, lived in South Carolina, and have spent the last year travelling abroad (India and currently in Kazakhstan) after my wife of ten years decided to divorce me while living in Dubai. This event has been extemely painful and I've been trying to put the peices of my past together so that I will not make the same mistakes again. In addition, and around the same time period as the divorce, I informed my overtly beligerent religious parents of my non-belief and, well... you can probably guess how well that went down. FDR, among other wonderful recources like The Thinking Atheist, have been a real life line, in that, it opened a whole new world to me. A world where people appreciate, nay, THRIVE on truth, honestly, and virtue. I can't wait to peruse these forums... I, like many of you, am looking to meet like minded people to connect with, to cultivate friendships, network, etc... My professional background is in photography but have since persued electronic music production. I LOVE music! Maybe soon, I might be able to build up the courage to call into the show... Thanks for having me! Much love and appreciation, Matthew
  3. Hello, I 'm Tresor, I have been listening to Fdr for about a year and thanks to Fdr, I have now some really great friends. I was born in Africa—came to the Netherlands when I was 7 years old. I always felt that there was something very wrong with the world, but I never knew exactly what it was. When I was 15, I started to see that almost everything I knew was bullshit—and that history was fabricated by people in power and my parents, to keep me ignorant. It’s Fdr that offers tangible solutions for all the things I see around me. Fdr also made me realize how important self-knowledge is and why it is essential to look critically at your parents. I live in The Hague and I’m currently studying business management at The Hague University.
  4. Well it's four in the morning and I'm functioning at half capacity like most research drones. You know, that half minded, can't even multitask anymore, drone-like state.Anyways, hello humanity. :3 Er- right. A little about the how to the why. I come from your typical lower-class american background. A soul without a container before Philosophy, FDR, and Mr. Molyneux. I've always had a craving for knowledge and perspective. I've even dabbled in abstract psychology.I'm just your average earthling, made of star dust like everyone else.
  5. Hello all, I am trying to locate a Stefan podcast that was posted on YouTube channel within the past 3-6 months that discussed how intellectuals experience the world differently from others. Stefan explained how a researcher that studies an indigenous group "will know more about their culture than they themselves know". Also, I think he mentions a book called "Intellectuals" by Paul Johnson. Stefan mentioned that intellectuals are not able to experience events with the same amount of emotion as others. If anyone could please find this podcast, or perhaps a related podcast/book/etc., I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Jonny
  6. Hey guys - I have my first funeral on Saturday as an Atheist. My cousin died (at 22) and though I wasn't too close to him recently, that side of my family is very close knit. They are also very Christian. Does anyone have any experience with this (it will be at a church) and do you have any tips on how to handle this? My current plan is to follow along with what happens and not say too much - which may be the best approach? If you can point me to any of Stefs or other relevant work on this I would appreciate this as well Thanks! Jonathan Also it pays to note that I have told my immediate family, much to their dismay, that I am an Atheist. My mother, her mother, and my sister are very Christian, while my dad doesn't care either way.
  7. Hello. Anssi J. AKA Anuojat from finland. Not much to say other than the title. Very easily riled up by negativity and very easily forgetting to check forums due to other places. I am not fond of arguing or debating online unless it is facetoface or voiceover, since text is just exhausting and seemingly pointless in so as to chancing peoples minds. Atleast from my long and painful experience. Also avatar. Nuff said.
  8. Hello everyone, I apologize in advance for the long-winded introduction – I will split it into parts and try to make it interesting and to-the-point for anyone who decides to read it. My Name This is of course a silly section. I am Stefan, and also go by Stef. I prefer my name to be pronounced like most male names ending in an –Dylan, Brian, Nathan, Ryan, Evan, Jonathan, etc. – though many try to call me Stef-ahn. I enjoyed finding a somewhat famous Stefan as there really aren’t many of us. A brief biography I am 25, and grew up in Asia, where my parents were Christian missionaries. I now live in Arizona, where I am an international health insurance salesman, and lead worship at a small charismatic church. I play a number of different instruments, play tabletop games (think Catan and newer), and study Chinese in my spare time. How I got here My parents were neo-conservatives, but growing up, I grew more and more disillusioned with politics, until I hopped on the Ron Paul 2012 bandwagon. He seemed to be a person with a history of integrity and more consistent ideals, but obviously that did not go well in terms of him being elected. While I was looking at some libertarian videos, I saw one of Molyneux giving a good case for a stateless society (basically that any state no matter how small or limited would grow – with an example of the U.S. government quickly becoming the biggest in the world). I was intrigued, so I watched a few of his videos, and have now read most of his books, starting with Practical Anarchy. I find anarcho-capitalism an intriguing, enticing system like I have not encountered anywhere else, and I find myself wishing it could be actually tried within my lifetime. Why I am here Smattered throughout the books I read (and focused on in the one I am reading now - “Against the Gods”) there was a lot tied to atheism and the harm that religion has done. This has coincided with me having a lot of doubts about God in my personal life. Surrounded as I am by friends and family who are passionate believers, I still do not want to run from the truth, whatever that may be. My plans I endeavor to study non-theistic arguments, if not exhaustively, as objectively as possible, as I have never really done before. Stefan Molyneux is a good writer, and seems like a deep thinker, so I am starting with his book, and the links he provided in the “For our religious friends” post. I also intend to personally test my religion for myself. What you can expect from me Much as I enjoy the idea of an intellectual community like this, I honestly have never really liked the communication format of forums. I am mainly joining so I can post a request in “Technical Issues”. I suppose an ulterior motive is to gauge the reaction of members of a community like this to someone in my situation. I am not an argumentative person, I think I am rather mature, and I understand the value of healthy conflict resolution. My main purpose is to learn. If this seems acceptable and I am welcome, perhaps I will make a forum post or two, or try out the chatroom. If not I am happy to disappear without further ado. In any case, thank you all for being committed to liberty and truth. Stefan
