  1. Interesting how the papers have massaged the fact that the people's money is being held hostage by the central banks. "In order to prevent capital from leaving the country, the central banks have closed all banks and put limits on ATM withdrawals" This is direct control of other people's money, and yet, when textbooks and statist economics speak of the role of central banks, never do they mention that they exist to serve as a way to trap people's money in a failing country. The central banks, as governments, are always said to be in existence to help the people, and yet once again, when the people want to remove their money from the banks, they are not allowed to.
  2. Hey all! My name is Panagiotis and im 24 years old. Im actually from Greece but living in Glasgow almost two years now. I started listening to Stef's podcasts a year and a half ago and I thought it was about time that I get to know and interact with rational people. I was born and grew up in Greece and as many of you already know, the majority of the greek people are advocates of collective-militant ideologies like communism, even those from the anti-authoritarian side are still very collective in nature(bakunin's anarcho-collectivism, anarcho-communism etc.) and the problem is that the greek culture is very collective by nature(well, every culture is I guess). I was so embedded in this collective nonsense that I still remember my reaction to the first video I have watched of Stefan about the british union strikes, I was appalled by his opinion about the unions but there was something about the pure rational argumentation of his that suppressed my emotional-psychological defences and kept me going on listening more from him(found the site-podcasts after this experience). A year and a half after that I was transformed from an anarcho-syndicalist into a rationalist-market anarchist. Oh well, I am really excited to be joining this conversation and I am looking forward to meeting you!
