Hello everybody! I’ve been an avid listener of FDR for almost 2 years now. I became a donator maybe about 8 months ago but hadn’t gotten around to getting on the forums until the beginning of this year. Even still, it’s taken me this long to make my first post - long overdue. I finally forced myself to make time to write this introduction because I plan on being at Anarchy in the NYC on 4/20 where I hope to meet some of you and Stef too. Is anyone else going?

So here’s a brief about me. I am born and raised in New Jersey, 31 years old. I’m a musician and I play guitar. I manage to make a good chunk of my modest living through teaching guitar and performing. However, these days I supplement that by also working a part time day job at a small record label. I’m sure that sounds glamorous to some of you but I assure it’s about as boring as most other day jobs, lol. At least it does have something to do with music.

Philosophically I would describe myself as a voluntaryist. I am down with the NAP, as most of us are here I am sure. That wasn’t always true and I have Stef to thank for that.

I’m also an atheist. I’m proud to say I came to the atheist realization on my own early on as a teenager after being raised as a Catholic. But again I have Stef and FDR to thank for giving me the logical arguments and evidence to help me defend my position on religion.

It’s kind of a lonely world being an anarchist/atheist. There’s really no one I know personally who shares my views, so political discussions with family and friends tend to be contentious. Most of the people in my life prefer not to even talk about such matters so there isn’t much discussion to begin with. I try not to force it on people but will speak up when people make false universal claims about the world.

As you might expect, I lack an outlet for real, genuine, logically discussion. For that reason I’m excited to meet and interact with people who do agree with voluntaryist principles and are capable of logical discussion. It’s nice to be here and I look forward to chatting with you all.

PS -  I’d like to add, if anyone one in the FDR world is interested in learning the guitar, I can help. I can do lessons over Skype. You can check me out at http://davewillardguitar.com.
