Dassquatch Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Though I don't carry the wit I've seen digging through the posts here, I'ma try my best to keep up. I'm a USMC veteran. I worked in intelligence. Yes, yes, oxymoron.... Great. Beyond that, I've come to anarchy through Mr. Molyneux's videos. At this point, I've started going to school again, and am learning more and more. If it wasn't for my driving goal of pursuing a career and trying to develop my ideas through Biomedical Engineering (yeah, I know, lofty goal for a student getting going again at 32), I think all the videos watched so far would have convinced me to go after Philosophy. But, alas, I like designing and making things, so engineering it is.As to my life story, I was born in a desert town in California and raised in Oregon. I'm currently living in Texas. I was raised with all of the spankings, yelling, etc. After poking around the idea of non-violent child rearing, I stopped spanking and yelling at my daughter. My wife stopped at the same time. And 3 or 4 months later, we actually talked about it. Odd, yeah? So, bare bones comparedto many posts here, but here I am.
Wesley Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Welcome to the freedomain radio! I would like to congratulate you for the several positive changes you have made in your life and the life of your daughter. This is especially impressive: I was raised with all of the spankings, yelling, etc. After poking around the idea of non-violent child rearing, I stopped spanking and yelling at my daughter. My wife stopped at the same time. I would also be very interested to hear about the conversion process from USMC and spanked child, to voluntaryism/anarchism and not spanking your daughter. This kind of information can help us know what arguments worked and things along those lines. Thanks for the post
WiresNPipes Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Yeah, good prompt. Like the Bible turns out atheists, the state's most glorious fist of force makes pacifists. Curious... Congratulations Dassquatch, welcome!
